iPhone Data recovery

Long story short, picked up a used iPhone on Kijiji last week. Buddy called me and wants it back :nut: He claims there is some sensitive information on it even though it's been restored. Can the data be retrieved somehow?

If he had a lock code everything would have been encrypted, and the key destroyed when you restored your iPhone.

Only problem is that the dude may they say it was stolen and then get it locked out, which wouldn't be good for anyone.

That's what I dont want him to do which makes me curious if there's anything on it
