What a stupid comparison. How many people are employed in Oil and Gas compared to the Green industry?

Really low given there's camp rooms for about 80,000 up there - and they're usually full...

There's probably more than 22,000 working in restaurants feeding the workers there...

So no breakdown provided for either claim.

Considering about 6,000 people work at Shell Albian and Scotford alone, it's a safe bet that the 22,xxx number is an outright lie.

Don't guess, find the facts that would disprove the article.

So, analyze their actual claim, then go find the actual data.

It's not that hard if you care enough to cry about the article.

Oil sands currently affects the jobs of 112,000 people across Canada outside the province of Alberta and this is expected to grow to over 500,000 jobs over the next 25 years..

No desperation about it, an interesting article was published, I relayed it.

You can choose not to believe, to believe, misunderstand, research, debate, ignore etc.

http://business.financialpost.com/2012/03/30/alberta-oil-sands-workforce-to-rise-73-by-2021/?__lsa=ba0b-8c7f

Alberta’s oil sands industry will see its workforce rise 73% over the next 10 years, according to Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada, as rising bitumen production demands greater manpower.

The industry, which accounts for 15% of the country’s oil and gas industry, employed 20,000 people at the end of 2011.

:dunno:

So, based on that, sounds reasonable, no?

You guy are missing the point. The article is saying that the "Green Energy Sector" which encompasses all of solar/wind/hydro etc.. employs slightly more people than the the oilsands project.

In other words the tiny dick of the green sector is longer than a pubic hair on OnG's nutsack.

we've been "working" with a "green" company for 3 years on a project... and all i have to say is what a fucking joke that industry is. more smoke and mirrors than a good old fashioned snake oil salesman

There ya go . sounds reasonable.

Or....

Since oil sands is 15% of the total o&g industry, and green is already "there" despite a massive head start and subsidies to oil and gas....

Pretty good start i would contend.

Fair comparison would be O&G to green energy. Or oilsands to hydro or to solar or to wind.

He's not crying about fair, he's explaining why your comparison is bullshit.

That's like saying more people live in Olds then in Deer Run when Olds is a city and Deer Run is a community inside of a city.

Here's another astonishing stat for you:

There's more electric cars in the entire world then there is gas powered cars parked at Chinook Centre. I know, your mind is blown.

Toma

Lol. That's fine of course, but even at 15%.... That's impressive.

The article states jobs related to the oil sands, the story is incorrect.

The numbers through cursory observation appear to be accurate.

And of course it propaganda lol, duh.

but the actual numbers are backed up by that financial post article I also referenced.
