hello there,

I am currently building a new home and as per agreement the possession date is around may. How much will it be delayed though ?

Any estimate time frame ?

I more it delays its better i think, allows me to save some money,

Why would it be delayed?

As far as I know, possession dates are pretty solid.

Shane gave us an estimation of August at the start, then a month or two later gave me a firm date of July 15, which they hit.

Usually is early or bang on. not delay.

Both times for me were delayed. 1 month (Shane) of the first 2 months on the second (Street side). :dunno:

Mine was delayed about 2 weeks from the initial estimate, but that estimate didn't count for the holidays like Christmas, it was based on their spreadsheet. But that was pretty close to what the actual possession date was.

But as long as Jason the site supervisor doesn't have trade shortages like he did earlier this year when I was talking with him then it should be pretty close.

haha this, but in all fairness 90% of condo developments I've known about in Calgary have been delayed.

My condo was originally going to be done by "Winter 2014" but now I'm being told it will be done "early 2015". I actually don't mind the delay as long as they build it without cutting corners.

My house was right on their estimated date but a buddy of mine has had his townhouse in Mahogany pushed just shy of 3 months. First it was supposed to be the middle of December, then middle of January and just last week he was told he is now looking at the end of February.

I think there is too much variability across the board to really put a generalization on it. As everyone else has said keep in contact with your builder.
