Expanding the HDD on my PVR

Hey all. I'm trying to come up with some way to expand the memory on my PVR, without spending $130 on an eSATA HDD.

I found this at memory express:

Can I use this with any USB portable HDD and expand the memory on my PVR? Or am I stuck with the $130 option? It's a Shaw HDPVR btw.
