The US is having quite an issue keeping up with demand, as they have decided to not go above a $100 bill for regular circulation.

Those figures are actual number of bills and not face value.

Rubles on the other hand, million face per bill, other nations billions per bill. Of note, last year they printed more $100 bills than $1, $5, $10, $20 and $50 combined. Before 1990, there were usually twenty $1 bills for every single $100 printed.

Germany used to print more large denomination bills than all smaller ones, just about before _____ happened.
