Those of you looking to replace your current F-150 Raptor will have a long wait ahead. Ford unveiled the 2017 Raptor today in Detroit and said it will be available in the Fall of 2016. 2016!!! I want me some Raptor now, not in 2 years from now.

Makes sense to wait to introduce this until the 10-speed transmission is ready. Otherwise, the drivetrain has very little to excite the niche buyers.

Looking forward to that transmission in the regular F150.

I think the old one looked much cooler. And just a retuned 3.5? Where is the 5.0 Eco we were hearing about...

Well there's going to be a 600hp 3.5 ecoboost for the new ford GT. I don't think a 5.0 ecoboost would be necessary.

They could easily make this truck come with 500+hp and a ton of torque out of the V-6 depending on how the engine/turbos are set up.

I haven't put a ton of thought into it but I'm not sure we'll see a high displacement EcoBoost. The 3.5L is plenty capable and if a truck needs more towing/payload/nuts/whatever truck people want then diesel is going to be a more sensible option.

That said, I agree that the 3.5 would probably be better suited to a Lightning than a Raptor, but we'll have to wait and see.

Gees mibz pay attention, the ecoboost was already in the tremor which was the modern version of the lightning that no one bought

There was news on it for roughly one day, and you could only see it by building a special combination on the ford website. Never seen one in person

Another issue with the 5.0 is that it's not direct-injected. Ford DI's all the Ecoboosts, presumably for knock mitigation, so I honestly don't see them slapping a couple of turbos on the Coyote. If there's a big-brother Ecoboost in the works, it'd probably be an all-new engine.

That tailgate is horrid. Wonder how much these will discount the '14 Ford Raptor....

Back in the 80s and 90s people used to laugh at "body kits" (puffed out bits) - now they come from the factory :nut:

Judging by the latest thread creation in the Auto News, it's easy to see who all went down :D

So not one asshole has bothered to mention how it says FORD across the entire ass of it. Since it was such a tragedy that the Ram had it.

You guys are dicks.

The word RAM is just too short to look good in such large letters, it doesn't fill the width of the tailgate, so it looks a little awkward. Plus the fact it's a contrasting colour to the gate makes it worse.

IMO the lettering should be the same colour. I'd prefer if the Ford's entire tailgate was all the same as well, but even still, it doesn't jump out as ugly like the Ram does.

The contrast lettering makes it stand out way more than the Ford, simple as that. Both are pretty obnoxious.

Tailgate looks stupid on both trucks but either way this Ford looks like it will be a pretty awesome truck.

I wonder how the fuel mileage will be affected with the lighter chassis and switch to ecoboost. I had one of the first ones that came to Canada and it was just an absolute pig in the city.
