Monitor - bad EDID fix

I have an old Westinghouse L2410NM 24" monitor. It's a 1920x1200 PVA screen.

The problem I am having is that for PC, it has only HDMI and DSUB (VGA). The HDMI connection does not work properly as the monitor reports incorrect EDID info to the computer; the computer thinks it's an HDTV and sends it an HDTV resolution (the odd thing is that I THINK the computer is sending 1920x1200 AND the monitor sees it as such but for some reason it is scaled to possibly 1920x1080). The result is that I get image ghosting, fuzzy text, and a generally washed out picture. This is a known problem with this monitor, and supposedly can be manually fixed:

But I can't seem to get it to work at all. I've already tried modifying the registry and nothing - same old.

Really need help here. I am using DSUB now (and yes it works) but I have to constantly re-adjust the display and everything just looks soft.

Fixed a similar issue by creating a custom monitor driver with hardcoded resolutions. Was a while ago but iirc used trial of Powerstrip and shoehorned it in, g'luck

I changed edid before on monitors, let me pull up old info on it.

Found the old email I sent to an ebay seller on how to his his monitors. I ordered a dell mini 10 replacement LCD and it had the wrong edis and I was able to fix it.

I was able to find the forum post that I used to get it all working, I don't recall all I did, but I remember I basically edited the EDID and flashed it in.

Ya I got it working - by spending $1,200 on a new monitor LOL.

No I couldn't get it - but I think in the end, it might actually be a flaw with the monitor itself, not sure. For some reason, through HDMI, the sharpness setting is enabled, but none of the adjustments will allow perfect 1:1. However, reading the comments on other forums, it looks like 1:1 is possible but just not for me. Oh well.
