April in the Yukon sucks. Wait till July/August to go up there. I don't think 7 days would be enough either, especially if you are driving(2 days of driving with a trailer to get there).

I went to Victoria a couple years back with a good friend and had a blast!

Stayed at the Delta right on the pier, amazing seafood, good bars and was an economical good time :D

... if you ride bikes, you'll like it that much more too :D :D

Quebec City and Maritimes sounds like an option. Those Newfoundland Labrador commercials makes it look pretty cool.

I'm pretty certain that there are no highways in Nunavut (meaning that you can't drive between the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, or Manitoba and Nunavut). If I am not mistaken, most of the population of Nunavut lives on Baffin Island, meaning that you'll need to fly in and out of Nunavut if you were to visit it. Driving from Calgary to the Yukon/Northwest Territoties is a 20+ hour drive iirc...

I still have yet to travel east of Montreal within Canada, as flights to the Maritimes are about as expensive as it is to cross the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans :nut:

I'd be tempted to wait for a flight deal to East Asia...Air Transat occasionally has deals to London/Manchester. My favourite city to visit in Canada (of the ones I have been to) is Montreal, but that's already in your plans, so i don't have a whole lot to add....

Yellowknife man, just came back from a 5 day trip there. It was fantastic, one of the better trips in my life, and I done many. It's a very different kind of vacation that's for sure, but it was a blast. We are thinking the same way, it's time to travel Canada until the dollar picks up, PEI and the east coast is next for us, unless we decide to go back to Yellowknife in march...which we are thinking about.

Here is my wife and I dog sledding on Jan 27th in -35C :D

One of the coolest Canadian trips I've done is overnight kayaking in Johnstone Strait at the end of August to see the orcas. I'd love to do that every year. It was definite glamping and the guides did everything minus setting up your tent and paddling. Bacon and eggs for breakfast? The flight to Port Campbell was reasonable too.

Have you been to the east coast? Lots to see and do out there as well.

Agreed that east coast is cool. It's the flights there that are pricy though.

Try to use Aeroplan/Air Miles points, you get good redemption value going to remote Canadian locations.

I highly recommend Nova Scotia. Give it a few more weeks and even the weather will be decent and spring-like. Lots of things to see and do and the people are usually awesome.
Best time though is the fall when the leaves on the maples start turning red. Huge wow factor.

Can't say about the other maritime provinces personally but the wife's dad is from NFLD and it sounds like its pretty magical as well. Cold as hell right now, but beautiful in the summer and the locals can be really generous and friendly. I imagine New Brunswick to be just as nice too.

I hear Newfoundland is really nice, not just from all the riggers either. It was the one area I didn't get a chance to go when I was out east years and years ago.

New Brunswick you have Hopewell Rocks which are cool, activities in Bay of Fundy. Nova Scotia/Cape Breton - Cabot Trail drive is stunning.

The problem with Newfoundland in April is that it tends to be brown and blah. Plus it is still cool, damp and probably windy. On the plus side you might see some icebergs.

True. If you can move things to July you're in for a treat. Or end of September would be pretty epic to see the leaves turning

Just a friendly remainder that Euro is also tanking like CAD. It's actually better now than I went last year. So Euro countries may be a good stop for vacations too. Just stop by UK, Pound stayed strong.

It's so weird being somewhere that seems like nobody has a schedule they need to be on, everyone is just doing everything so leisurely.

I would also say the Yukon. It's an amazing place, and I can't wait to go back.

Loved this place when I was there in summer 2009. Couldn't recommend it more for a July/August trip. Drive around the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton was gorgeous as well. Just wish it was cheaper to fly out there so I could visit again.
