We're building and we are looking at doing stone around two fire place's and a wall in the basement. The builder is quoting us $3,300 which I think is quite a bit. I'm wondering if I should just get them to leave it and have someone come in and do it after we take possession. I'm looking for an estimate (labour and materials) to do a total of 60sq ft.

Thanks

Depending on the stone used that's actually a reasonable quote.

Price seems decent. I paid a guy $1200 for the materials and labor for our basement fireplace, and the workmanship was good, but not as good as the builder did with the main floor fireplace.

I could have that job done for around 2400 - 2700.00 but I'll need to see it before hand.

If this a new home build? If so, there are benefits to having ti done by the builder, since ti will be covered under the new home warranty. Although reputable contractors will have a warranty as well.

Hahaha, you're quoting based on "a wall" as part of the description? And shouldn't you be a sponsor?

Get it done by the builder, the price doesn't seem unreasonable and it will save you a lot of headache.

Depending on the stone that you have selected that is a very reasonable rate.

I would recommend going with your builder cause if they ever have to open up the wall do a repair that stone's coming down and you will be responsible to get that wall stoned again.

If the builder does it they'll have to replace that stone wall and fix it up again.
