Where in Calgary #13 on Friday, the 13th - how fitting.

Well, I gave far too many clues in my last 'Where in Calgary' thread - this one will have far less assistance provided but the item in the picture should be enough to narrow down where in Calgary this gargoyle might be...

I may or may not swing by tomorrow with my DSLR to get a better picture - this is just a portion of a picture that I took with my Samsung S3. Looking at the Exif info isn't going to help you - I may be old but I still got enough smarts to remove hidden incriminating information. Quite viewable on Google Streetview but you'd have to be quite familiar with the right area to know where to find this gargoyle.

Post up your guesses.

Nope, don't believe there are any gargoyles of this type at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Anyone else not seeing the picture?

I can see it on my cell on Rogers and on my PC through TELUS. The picture is on a public portion of my Dropbox but I am using the public URL for this picture.

I see the pic, but I don't know the answer, yet.

I was answering for someone else. They tried to find it using Google. As soon as I read your reply out loud they said "oh yeah, it's Edmonton":banghead:

Just saw this - I knew it!
Minor thing, but it's a grotesque, not a gargoyle since it doesn't spout water.

Thanks for the interesting knowledge tidbit - problem is probably 99.99 percent of people wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about if you referred to it as a grotesque (I didn't). Even the old Herald building figurines are referred to as gargoyles when they are indeed are not such.

I was bored the other day and came across this thread, so I gave it a shot. With your "don't believe there are any gargoyles of this type at St. Mary's Cathedral" hint, I focussed on churches. The second church the I looked at on streetview was St. Joseph and it looked like the one you posted. Thanks for posting this.
