Location: Calgary Police Service - District Offices
Union/Position: Non-Union, Temporary (up to 1 year) Full-time (May to Aug), Part-time (Sept to Apr)
Compensation: $18.57 - 20.41 - 21.44 - 22.51 - 23.66 - 24.84 per hour
Hours of Work: The position will work full-time hours (May 11 to August 30) and part-time hours for the remainder of the term. The shifts will range from four hours minimum to eight hours maximum between 0700 and 2100 hours, seven days per week.

The Calgary Police Service, in concert with other agencies and the citizens of Calgary, is instrumental in preserving the quality of life in our community by maintaining Calgary as a safe, vibrant and resilient city. The Calgary Police Auxiliary Cadet Program encourages the attributes of good citizenship, leadership, physical fitness, dress and deportment standards and integrity while also enhancing knowledge about law enforcement within our community’s youth.

Responsibilities
The employment portion of the Auxiliary Cadet Program provides cadets the opportunity to assist police officers at District offices and throughout the Service as part of the mentorship program. Specific paid duties include:
Assist in the completion of reports such as accident reports (non-injury), property damage reports, and administration reports.
Provide customer service to the general public by supplying information, making referrals, and/or booking appointments for a range of inquiries and requests.
Attend biweekly training as scheduled (September to April), and assist with other duties as determined by the District or Calgary Police Service.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalency (for example G.E.D.) and basic Microsoft Office skills. Candidates must be able to participate in the physical fitness component of the Auxiliary Cadet program. Previous volunteer experience and active community involvement would be preferred. Post-secondary education and previous cadet experience would be assets. While all applications are welcome, this particular opportunity may be of specific interest to youth in our community. We therefore encourage individuals between 18-24 years of age who have an interest in a future career in policing specifically to apply.

The successful applicants must be able to demonstrate the following competencies; Excellent communication skills, Efficiency & Thoroughness, Focus on Results, Relationship Building, Service Orientation, Stress Tolerance, Team Building and Teamwork.

Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized as meeting the minimum qualifications.

An enhanced security clearance will be conducted for this position and a polygraph may be implemented in the future with the development of the Auxiliary Cadet position.
Must be available to attend a mandatory orientation session prior to training.
Must be available to attend mandatory Auxiliary Cadet training starting on May 11, 2015.
The Auxiliary Cadet Program requires a volunteer commitment at community events as well as additional unpaid training/learning commitments.
The Calgary Police Service will provide a mandatory uniform to be worn as required.
More than one position will be filled with this competition.
