ok here's the deal some bitch in a 2000 f-150 cuts me off and i t-bone her. the accident is not my fault and SGI here in sask has offerd me $4300 for my car. kick in the balls. My crx was an 89 with 190,000 k. I had dropzone springs, KYB struts, momo wheel, Tanabe cat back exhaust, Ractive header, new upper control arms, rack and pinion, short shifter and bushings, front and rear strut bars, new motor mounts, full stereo with subs, Compustar alarm/starter, and all the assorted little shit we all do to our cars. What is a car like this worth? I paid $4500 for it last spring in B.C. and i have over $6000 in receipts for the car, all stuff i have done in the last year. I have been bent over by SGI in the past and i wanna know what you guys would value the car at.

if you want to get some of that money back, buy the car back and part it out. i think the buy back should be somewhere around $500? find out. also, $4300 sounds about right. they don't factor in the mods that you put on it unless they too have been insured.

Yeah buy it back.. but can anyone explain how this works? They pay you out, and you just tell them you would like to buy it back? Whats the % of the value they give you that the buy out is?

dude, you dont get payed for your mods. That only applies if you have had it appraised and have the propper insurance.

I was paid out for all of my mods and all of the work done to my car. I received $7k for the car, I bought it back for $900, parted it out and made another $5k. If I tried to sell it, I would have been lucky to get $6k for it.
P.S. My car was not appraised before the accident and my insurance company knew nothing about the mods.

My poor front mount...........

You can barter your settlement with SGI. Provide them with ads from the autotrader, newpaper, ect.of market value CRX's.

They initally offered me $5500 for my 88 gt mustang (back in the day) and we settled on $8500.
You can hold out!! Don't take their first offer!

ps.. personal SGI buy backs are dirt cheap! part it or fix it!

what insurance company?

i'm shopping for a new one, last thing i want to happen is having my car written off and only getting 1000 for it because its "just an 89 spirit" even though it has many thousands into it.

Buy Insurance Arbitrator..
I got into an accident when I was in Regina back in 2001.
My car was written off and SGI offered me 11k at first time.
It was a brand new 2001 Dodge Neon with 11000km.
I paid $400 to my Arbitrator and he made an awsome deal with
SGI. I ended up getting $14500 for my car.
Well, It might take while to get final deal with SGI( I would say about 3~4 month). It definitely worth trying it.
