Does anyone know if the frame of a rsx is built on the same platform as a civic?? If so doesn't that make an rsx esstially a civic with a different styling and engine??

As far as I've heard the RSX does share the same platform as the newer Civics.

i woudln't say its the same platform, if one were to do a swap of say the engine, you would to changet the rear axles and braking set up as well as the front tranny,

best look on

www.hondawerx.com

they have a 2002 civic, with a dc5 as well as a turbo and what such, thats my best idea, or go to the forums on 2k2civic.com (www.7thgencivic.com)

They did this swap in one of the SCC vol. There is very minimal change to the engine bay. I think mounts and a cross member the goes inder the motor. The rest is wireing. Im not sure if this is correct ill try and find the issue and scan it!

they are both based on the "global compact platform" so the answer is yes.

civics and tegs have always been the same car from day one..

I found the article. Its in the Dec/Jan 2003 issue of honda tuning. I can scan it if you would like let me know but it basically says that the RSX and the Civic are virtually identical under the skin. Hasport makes mounts for k series motors for civics. The aritical is about a swap that they do pm me if you would like to see it.

Other than platform sharing, what else do the two share?

Its not like its uncommon. Pretty much all manufacturers base more than one car on the same platform. Aside from flagships, high end and exotic vehicles, chances are your car is gonna share a few components with another car.
