The Pine glacier in Antarctica is showing major signs of melting. It alone will raise sea levels one to two meters.

Time to build some sea walls. Also time for people to accept that Climate Change is starting to accelerate.

I live in Alberta, the sea level rising has no effect on me as we dont live on a coast.

Pine Island Glacier is one of the largest ice streams in Antarctica, and drains much of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. Because it is grounded in ever deeper sea water, it is vulnerable to melting at its base and rapid grounding line migration. A collapse of Pine Island Glacier could occur within 1000-2000 years, raising sea levels by up to 1.5 m, but it is unlikely to contribute to more than 2.7 cm of sea level rise over the next 100 years.

The quote is directly from the article. So I left nothing out.

Pine glacier is just one of many melting glaciers. The point was, that it is one of the largest in one of the coldest places on Earth, and it is still melting.

it's not an issue of time but rate, take some math courses before you start telling others they're wrong.

overpopulation is a way bigger concern IMO

In Canada? If so, have you ever flown cross country in a light aircraft

The first episode of the new season of VICE (S04E01) spends 42 minutes covering the melting of Antarctica. They also show some really cool science in case anyone is interested. You can find this episode in the usual online places.

Nope, just explains them.

Current climate models suggest that Alberta could possibly become a dust bowl.

Hopefully not, because Alberta will become very important in the future. The world is going to need wheat.

One of the best characteristics of human beings is the ability to adapt. Fuck your wheat, fuck your climate models i trade only for brick and stone

However even Canada has too many people.... should have capped it at 30 million.

Canada has too many people? Where exactly? Have you seen what the country of Canada looks like from 2000 ft when flying around for weeks at a time - away from the American border?

(hint: not a soul in sight)

what a fucking idiot.

> 99% of all species that have ever lived are extinct - my point being that relying on an assumed ability to "adapt" is a stupid solution to the challenges facing humanity.
