There's a sports store on Centre St and 25th ave (Tuxedo source for sports) that's great, as well as on Edmonton Trail (2nd chance sports). Haven't been to 2nd chance sports though.

Second Chance will greatly overcharge you for what you get.

Go to one of the Play It Again Sports locations (Westhills or Shawnessy). Don't be afraid to make an offer on used stuff - there's some room to wiggle.

Play it Again isn't so bad, but I found that a lot of their used prices were unreasonable compared to buying the same thing new from Sport Chek with a 20% team assist (no longer exists) or the 25% off friends/family sale which happens every few months.

If you are interested though, there's a $15 for $30 worth of goods sale on groupon for Play it Again @ Westhills. Deal expires this Saturday.

That's the struggle with the retail sports industry in general. There's crappy margin on most items, unless you're a big-box store with purchasing power, or part of a buying group, and if you're dealing with used equipment, it's tough to be competitive and still break even considering what most people want for a used item and what someone else is willing to pay. That's why there's fewer and fewer used equipment places in the city.

Nope, gone quite a while ago. Maybe 10 years or so.

Only ones in Calgary are the 2 Play it Again Sports locations, Second Chance Sports on Edmonton Trail and any pawn shop or consignment store that happened to end up with some sporting gear.
