I realize it's pointless to judge a film based on a trailer of a trailer but I'm so hyped

When was the last time an R rated movie came out in general (that was kind of a blockbuster/big deal)?

Seems to be a thing of the past, but maybe I just haven't been paying attention...

Also, I firmly believe ryan reynolds is a shit actor, but he seems to have done well in this. I am extremely excited to watch this movie!

I find him to be good at comedic roles and decent to mediocre in anything else. Give the movie Waiting a try, might change your opinion.

Ryan Reynolds is good at playing himself. The problem is that they shoe-horn him into roles where he doesn't fit. Also, you know, just some terrible movies.

Kingsman: The Secret Service was R-rated and pulled in $400M. John Wick didn't rake in blockbuster $ but was a great movie and kicked off a franchise, reportedly.

I liked him in Buried, where he was the only person on the screen for the entire movie. Pretty tough to do.

I went back through and looked at 2014 and 2015. There definitely were a few, but not as many as I would have thought. Of course, by being r-rated, you kill the amount of money you can bring in.

And I actually decided to download Kingsman lastnight, from the commercials and trailers it really looked like a kids movie, have to give it a chance now!

It made 2x in foreign market. South Korea went crazy for that flick.

The problem with Deadpool is, I really doubt it will do well in foreign markets. And the foreign market is probably why his mouth got sew shut last time.

Most Deadpool jokes/gags will be lost in translation outside of English speaking countries.

Missed these posts.

Yes, Wolf of Wall Street, you are correct.

As for Kingsman earning $400mil, holy crap, because I DID watch it, and it was a mediocre movie at best.

Relating to this thread, I am going to watch Deadpool this weekend. I am stoked!

Great movie. Finally break from the Disney's superhero formula. All the jokes are great, especially for someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s.

Going with the wife to watch it tonight in VIP.

Did something so stupid though, was booking our tickets online yesterday and booked two for the IMAX show only to realize this morning that it was for the show last night and not tonight. Goes $40 down the drain.

I had given up hope as it says they are non refundable everywhere but my wife called them and apparently they are mailing us free movie passes. Which is still good, something is better than nothing.

Ouch. A family member did something similar. Forgot to check the passport until the day of the travel and it was expired. Down went the $5K.

"Iraq. Afghanistan. Jacksonville." if I remember correctly

Saw it last night. For once at a comic book movie, it actually FELT like the comic book it was based on.

Absolutely nailed delivery on many points. "SHIT! Did I leave the oven on?" "You may want to leave the room.... I bet it feels REALLY big in this." "Happy international women's day.... No...NO.... NONONONNONO!" XD

Saw it this afternoon.

It was exactly what Deadpool is supposed to be. Renyolds IS Deadpool, this movie works because of that fact. I came out, looked at my watch and couldn't believe the movie was that long, didn't drag on at any point.

The trivia section of Deadpool's IMDB page is really long because the script is 80% easter eggs and meta cultural references.
