So someone on facebook spotted this P1, I didn't even know these existed in Alberta. Pretty cool imo.

Doesn't one of the Cardel brothers own one too? Pretty sure they had one at the quarry parks show.

Edit, went through my pictures. Was a 650s

Cool car though, good to see it actually being driven.

Active ride. Roll, pitch control, and height are adjustable.

The McLaren P1™ has probably the most advanced suspension ever fitted to a road car. It has active ride, roll and pitch control, and is height adjustable. Lowering the car allows the McLaren P1™ to produce astonishing levels of ground effect suction, clamping it to the road. The advanced hydro-pneumatic RaceActive Chassis Control (RCC) gives major advantages in ride, handling and grip, and can be changed to suit the driver’s personal preferences. Damping is adaptive. As with the 12C, metal anti-roll bars – which invariably reduce ride quality and the car’s ability to ‘flow’ over the road – are redundant. There are four suspension settings. Normal, Sport and Track – selected by rotary control – ensure the ideal behaviour for comfortable cruising, dynamic road driving or track activity respectively. In Race mode, the McLaren P1™ becomes a fully focused racing car. Roll and heave stiffness are almost rock hard – the spring rates stiffen by 300 per cent – and ride height is now wafer thin. The car can corner at more than 2g. The McLaren P1™ has the same braking capability as a GT3 sports racing car, a step ahead of any super sports car sold today. Akebono, McLaren’s Formula 1™ and Automotive braking partner, developed bespoke carbon ceramic disc brakes, lighter and smaller than previous discs. Tyres are specially engineered by McLaren Automotive partner, Pirelli.

Pretty sure this is their P1 too. Been hearing about it for a while, must have finally arrived. Surprised they're throwing P1 money around with their whole mess with Revenue Canada right now. Really wish them luck in that battle. Getting on the wrong side of Revenue Canada blows. They're great people, put lots of money back in the community with their shows, RMR track project... really don't deserve to be taking it up the ass from RC. :(

Had a brief chat with this guy at a set of lights yesterday!

Nice guy, had his windows down, I complimented on the car, said thanks and threw a compliment back...

Nice to see him out driving it instead of letting it sit parked!

They are just crying foul over the CRA and trying to make it sound worse than it is. Don't get sucked in.

The claim against them is for all 3 companies, not just them, which as I understand it, is a common way for CRA to do it when they can't account for money being moved around between them. CRA also uses estimates when no paper work is available to come up with a maximum amounts to ensure they cover their bases.

All likely a result of Cardel being shifty. They just need to support their tax returns and they probably owe just a quarter of that.

Disclaimer: This is an opinion only, please don't sue me
Apparently it was with respect to their private mutual fund trust structure. If anybody cares, these structures would have limited partnerships own the business (non-taxable entities), and all the cash flow/income would be paid up through a series of non-taxable trusts, that would pay out the cash to individuals that would hold their trust investment in their RRSP. The effect was the business would pay (almost) no corporate tax on their income, and the individuals would have a deferral on any personal tax on the income until it was withdrawn from their RRSP.

Ultimately, it was a pretty crafty (or shifty depending on your view) idea with a lot of pretty specific requirements for it to work properly. But, it was all possible within the letter of the law until it was killed in the federal budget a few years back, similar to the old public income trust structure that was killed in 2006. There were transitional provisions for how to back out of the structure as well, which is another area they may have gone offside.

EDIT: One way the fine could have gotten so big is if they went offside on one of the requirements at a low level, and the whole structure goes belly up and all the distributions on the way up end up taxable. So the same cash distribution up could then be taxable many times over, without any permissible deduction. Talking a bit out my ass there, but that could be how the fine ends up so big, and if the CRA is within their right in the income tax act to do so, then you sue them for being seemingly unreasonable.

I don't even know who I am referring to haha. Some asian/hawaiian guy with a ponytail I think. I was working nearby for the last month and noticed the car come and go on a few of the nicer days.

LOL @ Hongcouver Civic.

Funny how all the money going around in Vancouver is all foreign. Just think.. Everytime you buy something made in China, whether it be an iPhone, cheap trinket from Dollarama, one of these kids gets a new toy.

WOW!!! Now if only he has a Porsche 918, he would be on a legendary status world wide (although his current car collection would have him pretty close)

Honestly though, with the trifecta how do you decide which one to drive? With the Ferrari and Mclaren you can at least flip a coin.
