So i was at the auto show today , walkin through mitsu side of the place when my friend asked me about the EVO 8 and i told him it will never come to canada , when all of a sudden some blond chick who worked for mistu came up and argued that EVO 9s are going to be developed and brought to Canada in 2 years ........

So what do you guys think about that?

YEAH!! I can't wait. Last time I tried to test drive one in the states was when they first came out, and when they noticed our Alberta plates, the manager said we were "only looking for a joy ride..." and "TOO BAD!!" I think an EVO would be a great addition to the garage! Lets hope it does come true.

I got the same story from one of the Mitsu guys at the show in Toronto. I was told fall of '05 as '06 model. But as always, taken with a grain of salt. I'd probably think about a trade-in if that was the case.

Not sure about the EVOs in CANADA but the 2007 STi is on the menu for me.

But if current pricing holds true, we should get EVO 9 at the price of slight more than current WRX. That's almost $10K less than STi.

Anyhow, I havn't like the new styling all that much since EVO VII. Hopefully next EVO will look better inside and out.

i thought they don't call Evo 9 no more as they using the Colt to develop the Evo instead of the Lancer.......correct me if i'm wrong....that's what i read of some old car magazines.....

i think it'll still be called the EVO9.

the 2.4L engine is being researched right now from what I gather... should be impressive engine.

Mitsu doesn't make the colt anymore. The Lancer replaced the Colt.

this should be around the time that the new STI comes out right?

I heard Subaru was making a 3.0 litre STI for 2007. supposedly 350hp!

The next gen Neons will share the same platform as the lancer from my understanding.:burnout:

Yeah i was talking to a mitsu guy at the show, and he was saying they will bring the 2005 EVO 9 most likely to canada this year. He was saying there was a retarded thing that prevented the 8s from passing crash tests, and it will be fixed for the canadian market :dunno:

if it's like similar as STI. i think it's kinda overprice abit for that quality(although i love the EVO much more than the STI and WRX). if that is the case. i rather go back to my LEGACY....performance and comfort in once.......just my two cents tho

350bhp Impreza Muscles In

Things move fast at Subaru... very fast. Although the new Impreza has only just arrived, the firm is already plotting to unleash an STi model that could end the Japanese supercar debate with Mitsubishi once and for all.

A senior source at the company told Auto Express: "Subaru has something quite special in the pipeline. We're now working on a 3.0-litre turbo Impreza for Japan and Europe that will generate in excess of 350bhp.

"Unfortunately, we're having teething problems with the transmission as the current WRX STi six-speed box isn't capable of handling the torque the engine produces." Several solutions are being investigated, with the most popular being to ask a company such as Getrag, which has much experience in building heavy-duty gearboxes, to work on the transmission.

But before you race down to your nearest dealer, bear in mind how long this is likely to take. Development of the car is said to be very complicated. Our source suggests we won't see the 3.0-litre turbo powering a Subaru until the next Impreza model change, due in 2007. However, anyone wanting a taste of what's to come should be aware a muscular 3.0-litre normally aspirated engine - the platform for the turbo unit - will be used in the new Legacy, here in June. Subaru says the non-turbo will pump out close to 240bhp, which is 25bhp over the current car's output.

The company also plans to scrap the twin-turbo 2.0-litre engine that powers the Japan-only Legacy B4 - a car British Subaru fans had coveted. This motor will be replaced by a 2.0-litre single-turbo B4, which will use the unit that debuted in the Impreza STi. The reworked Legacy arrives next year. Peter Lyon

wow.......N/A TL for 300HP? how big is the motor?

when will honda/acura learn.........the new 270hp TL is enough, considering the limitations of the front wheel drive platform. Even with an LSD the new TL is reportedly a torque-steering bitch. Now if they put a 300hp motor in a rear-drive TL with agressive suspension tuning, i'd be willing to bet they'd be alot more popular  :burnout:

Wait for the platform redesign - I'm thinking AWD SRT-4

I think it would be cool if the Evo 9 ends up with the Mitsu built Chryco Turbo 2.4L, 300HP would be very doable (up from the current 271 HP) and the torque would be similar to the Evo 8.
