hitch question

I need a hitch for my jdm forester but I don't think they make a 2" hitch for my car. I need a full sized one for pulling a drift boat every now and then. And we are looking into a small tent trailer as well.

Am I not looking in the right place and there is one on the market?

Can I buy a hitch from a different ride and have it shortened and new mounting plates installed?
