GTA Vice City: Custom Cars (56k warning)

downloaded some custom cars today for grand theft auto vice city.....I don't have the madd skillz to make them myself but I am planning on starting to modify some of these...

heres some screenshots I took while playin today...so far I only have a w126 benz and a 190D taxi...I am only going to download cars which are circa 1980's since the game is based around that time, having enzos and shit driving around just ruins the game haha :D the 240sx was a test car to see if I could import cars into the game correctly....just deleted it right now as its a "newer" car

The cars look alot better when they are moving in the actual game...when I stop the edges go all jagged and stuff

Couldn't get the real 16 hole wheels that came with this car to work....game kept locking up, so had to go with some of the wheels included in the game :(

whoever designed this did pretty good....the center console is ALL real looking with all the real buttons (right down to the diagrams on the controls..), heat vents and everything are in the right place (including the glove box lock thing..), and cluster is real

it's PC....I didn't know there were custom cars either until just a little while ago...

let the modding begin :D I can change wheel size and style and other basic stuff right now (also I can change the performance characteristics of the car....) but I haven't had time to actually modify cars yet

Yah its for PC, cant do that with the PS2, sweet cars, go for the Porsche 928 next , it rules, scarface style:devil:

Already tried going for a porsche 928 (way ahead of you there :D) but the file wasn't created right by the author.....so it doesn't work :(

just a warning, adding cars IS time consuming as if the game doesn't like ONE thing about it then it locks up....

I'll give you guys the links when I get home but heres the SAFE way to do it without wasting time:
- BACK UP YOUR SHIT - backup your gta3.dir and gta3.img carcols.dat, handling.cfg and default text files in another directory, incase a car messes up the game you juts restore these and you're fine...

- download Mod installer to install the car files ONLY, but DO NOT change car settings using this program...it messes shit up h4rdc0r3

- keep your handling,default and car cols files open when working with shit so you can quickly undo changes, make 1 change (ie...paste in the handling settigngs that came with the car), save the handling document while still KEEPING IT OPEN and go check if your game works, if the game locks up then go back to yuor handling file and hit undo...thats basically what you have to do for the default settings (such as wheels...) and the carcolors as well...

using the mod installer brings the car into the game quite easily so if none of the other appropriate modifications that the custom car needs work then at least you have that car in the game with the settings of the car that it replaced...

remember to disable the read only setting on your files otherwise you won't be able to change them.....

ok I don't understand what your problem really is, can you plz explain in more detail? I'd suggest restoring those backup files that you HOPEFULLY created (Takes like 10 seconds to restore them, just copy+paste them back into the directory)...if not then reinstall the game

yep, I have the d-magic wheel mod and I set the wheel code to 249......but then the game locks up..... so I am forced to not be a :bigpimp: and must endure the uglyness of the "normal" wheels :D

I've put in a bunch of :bigpimp: cars since the time I started this thread.....I was going to originally only put in cars that are like 1970-1990ish but that got boring so I just put in whatever is nice..

Currently have:
- Escalade on 24's
- ML MBZ on 24s
- Lambhorgini Murciealago
- Nissan 350Z
- Hamaan M3 (vertical opening doors)
- Custom Impala lowrider (has tanks/batteries in trunk and hops a bit higher than the Voodoo allowing it to scrape when I hop at speed)
- VW R32 (looks SO real)

I figured out how to put hydraulucs on other cars (ie I put hydros on my escalade :bigpimp:) but the only problem is that when I do that the Esclade replaces the Voodoo in the game :( That means everywhere the Voodoo lowrider used to be you will find an escalade :( which is no good....so I"m going to tryu and find out what can be done to fix this and make it so all cars are "juicable" :D Btw...the esaclade replaces the Rancher (junk SUV) and when its on hydros you can either drive it at normal height (which looks :bigpimp: since its on 24's) or raise it UP....when you do that the thing goes crazy high and you can RUN OVER ANYTHING :D When you stop it drops lower than the normal ride height and is suitable for balling in front of your club or something of that sort :D

I sometimes find myself spending more time modding than acutally playing the game haha

What I am trying to do, which I will start soon, is try to get rid of most of the lower end cars and make a whole city of Ferraris and Bentleys or whatever. Just some better quality cars, but I don't want some stuck-up snob city. I want some other cars like the WRX STi in there, and especially the Supra. I'm just trying to make the city a little...nicer.

I have this problem where I am stuck running backwards... anyone have this and have any help? Sometimes, for the first time yet, it doesn't happen and I can run forwards, but only for 15 seconds or so. I tried relocating the backwards button, but nothing helped. It also makes me lean back off the motorcycles and I tend to flip a lot...

BTW I just put a new RR Phantom in... it's:bigpimp: but flips a lot.

i downloaded an 04 yamaha r1 and i got 2 files (dff and txd)
with my IMG tool i can replace dff with no problem but when i wanna replace the .txd one it says "cannot replace....file is too big"
do i need a different tool???

Finally "got" GTA:VC for PC and wanna play around by modding cars and stuff. I used your link above nimso to download some pimp cars. Then I downloaded Vice City Mod Manager.
So I downloaded Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.vcm, extracted it to C:\Program Files\vcmm\mods\vcm as the"instructions" notepad file said. Then is says "Once this is all done you can boot up VCM
Manager and install the mod."
I run the program and it says to pick a GTA folder, which one do I pick?

And whatever folder I pick, I should back that shit up as well as the other shut u said to back up, yea?

Get the root folder for GTAVC. Not Rockstar Games, not any subfolders. This is mine:
D:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Oh I love that Elise! The color is great on it, and I talked to a guy who owns an orange Elise, but I don't think I'd own an orange or yellow one myself. A nice deep blue or black would be too hot to resist...:drool:

The 360S looks nice, I think I had one on but I took it back off for some reason. I think it didn't have a top, or was really low quality or something. Not sure if I remember, but I do remember it being annoying because everywhere I went there were 360s and it was getting kind of old. I think I replaced the Admiral with it or something.:dunno:
