Does anyone here regularly see an opthalmologist (eye specialist) and can recommend them? Seems like the guy I see isn't really interested in telling you whats wrong with your eyes, or talking at all. Dismissive of questions or if you missed what he said, you have to pretty much beat a reply out of him. :nut:

It's kind of disheartening, go in and see the guy for literally 45 seconds, takes a quick look and let's try these drops and follow-up in a few months. :dunno:

Dr. Yau at the Mitchell Eye Center.

I started seeing him 18 months ago for late onset stabismus and he was my surgeon for the correction, went extremely well.

Then 2 months ago i experienced a retinal detachment, he was the one who identified it and 3 days later i was in surgery with his partner Dr. Adatia. Just in the 2nd month of recovery now.

The Mitchell eye center has 4 doctors I believe and their center is world class. I think they still take patients to so give them a call.

I highly recommend Dr. van Westenbrugge @ Gimbel Eye Center. He did my Lasik surgery.

Great experience if you can get over the big Jesus painting in the waiting room.

I guess it depends on what your issues are.
I've got Kerataconus, and I would recommend Dr Al-Ghoul at Seema Eye Care, but I don't think you can see him without a referral. He does corneal surgery if that's what's required.

In terms of more specialized optometrists who may be able to give you advice or referals, I have had good luck at Edworthy Vision downtown.

If you're downtown, the optometrist in the FYIdoctors in Banker's Hall is pretty good. They seem to have all kinds of cool toys and diagnostics to look at your eyes.

Plus, a lot of the staff are pretty nice.
