Picked up this beaut about 2 months ago. Decided to try on a BMW for size. 1995 540i

When I bought it, it had:
5 speed manual swap!!!
Hot air intake
Custom exhaust with dynomax muffler
18" BMW Style 32 wheels
D'Sylva ECU Chip

And over the last 8 weeks I've done some maintenance stuff as well as:
Lowered it on ST springs and Bilstein shocks
Straight piped it
E-fan conversion
Trunk lip spoiler
Power polish

Anyway, without further adieu:

For plans, just wanna spiff up the front end a bit. Respray the rock chipped grill trim, do something about the busted fog lights, etc. Maybe a woodgrain Nardi steering wheel? :)

Great first clip but the second - I would have almost put a mic in the trunk by the exhaust and turned the camera mic off (or edit it out). ;)

Also, I am a big fan of large exhaust systems WITH resonators (dont like the raspyness) .... but to each their own!

Was my first time putting a camera there. What I found works well for dampening noise is just a piece of electrical tape over the camera mic, forgot to bring some when I shot this video.

Sounds nice Sentry. What rpm do you shift at? Not for fuel economy anyways!

Probably the best sounding straight piped car I've heard in recent memory. Hooks up nice as well.

At the 6500rpm limiter.

I'm gonna throw it on a dyno at some point. Feels like about 250whp according to my precision calibrated buttdyno. Not fast but definitely not slow, enough to keep me entertained.

Yeah I think an E39 M5 may be in my future. The most badass V8 BMW.

Some cosmetic enhancement this afternoon. New towhook cover and fog light blockoff plates.

Visited a parkade tonight with my broke-ass welfare camera. It managed OK in low light. Might get an actual shoot done on this thing once the leaves turn.

It's one of those cars that's fun to drive slow as well as fast. Just rumble around at 1300rpm through downtown. Turns heads. :)

I have always had love for the next generation but this one is unique and really stands out.

Curious to see how it holds up in the winter, have some RWD fun with 5 speed trans and winter tires. :nut:

Lots of steering angle + long wheelbase = good times.

:bigpimp: you going to black out the window chrome on it? would look better

Sentry

I dunno, I kinda like the chrome trim on the windows. Suits the car I think. May even get the chrome kidney surrounds since they're missing. I mean, "deleted".

Installed some traction this weekend.

Guy that sold me my E39 M5 also had an E34 540i. His was 6 speed+LSD swapped, so he had the factory pumpkin sitting in his garage taking up room. He generously threw that in with the deal, FO' FREE.

Finally decided to weld up that diff and throw it in this weekend.
http://i.imgur.com/aaG6B03.jpg

Pulled out my old diff.
http://i.imgur.com/RCA1XAd.jpg

The cap screws for the axles were all packed with this like thick clay, was hard to get good engagement on the hex. Ended up stripping one of the 12 bolts. Welding to the rescue.
http://i.imgur.com/TUwU3Wz.jpg

This thing had been banged around a bit, the pinion flange was smooshed and the rear cover was broken at its mount. Just swapped with the stuff from my old diff.
http://i.imgur.com/He4iCPG.jpg

Since his car is a MY94 it came with a 2.93, mine's a 95 and came with a 2.81. BMW makes diff ID very simple, there's a tag indicating the ratio and whether it's an LSD or not. (These are both open diffs)
http://i.imgur.com/ib2CK5R.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/ER0CMKk.jpg

"New" diff installed back into the car. :D
http://i.imgur.com/Lbc2g9t.jpg

Very satisfied with how the car feels now. A lot more predictable how the rear end is going to behave. Ratio wise not much of a difference. Feels a little quicker but it's probably negligible.

JZS_147

So OEM diff with slightly shorter ratio = Dinan Diff :D
