you say the damage is around $1500, and you're thinking an increase of $600/yr, if that's where it ends up, it seems like a no brainer to me, if you have the upfront cash, just keep it away from insurance... you'll end up paying 3x more over the 6 years

regardless of how much it goes up, for $1500, i don't think it's worth it.

To be fair, if he ran over a small herd of children, the insurance increase would be the same, and it would be a smokin' deal. Car insurance is just a form of socialism. ;)

AMA sucks btw. Always seem to have the highest quotes. Maybe MaskedBandit can chime in?

How about the cost for rental? I wouldn't want to pay for rental or be without a vehicle during the time if I'm not at fault. The insurance will cover that. Make sure they include everything before making the decision.

Yea it might be time to shop around for insurance and cancel your policy after the claim?

He's my broker actually, I emailed him at 7:30 last night so we will see what he has to say. I am far from his biggest priority I imagine.

i talked to him a couple days ago, he's on vacation til monday, i called and talked to Darren though, he was really good, gave me all the info i needed, i'd assume he could help you as well.

Yeah absolutely, that is sort of the worry. Apparently the lady my wife hit was 79,000 years old. So I am sort of worried about dealing with this on the side and her going to insurance anyways for health related stuff. The accident was literally 2km/h but you never know. I guess she pulled up behind my wife on 24th Ave and blocked the turn on Center Street. Wife had to back up a foot to get out of her stall to turn and the lady parked right behind her at the same time.

if they were both moving it should be 50/50?

I can almost guarantee they have forgiveness because it's a tactic by most companies to keep you around. It basically means you're forced to stay with them for the next 6 years unless you want your rates to skyrocket, because a new company won't forgive an old accident. Having a low paying customer for 6 years is better than a high paying customer for 0 years.

Not saying I encourage using the forgiveness, just that I'm pretty sure everybody has it these days.

If it's TD, their accident forgiveness is an addon to each individual policy. It's like $1 a month, but it's still an addon.

well adding her to instagram was a good first step in the transition, both for losing the current wife and gaining the new one :poosie:

Almost every policy has accident forgiveness I believe, make sure you don't have it before going too far.

It sucks either way but if the increase X years increase is in effect is less than the repair, do that. If it's more, pay for the repair and don't go through insurance.

I think MB is on vacation, so if you don't hear back that's probably why.

EDIT: Just noticed you had accident forgiveness.

Turn off AC to punish her.

Keep a portable one for yourself.
