Not sure if this is real, but was parked in my office's lot today. Definitely a beauty.

I've been seeing this car everyday this week driving around that area on 8th ave, perfect weather to bring it out I guess :hitit: :burnout:

I know that car ;) belongs to a beyond lurker too...

It's not a true spyder, he'll have to chime in - (its an OLD kit - collectible in its own right) I can't remember the name now.

I was curious how available / expensive a real 356 would be (as I don't know jack shit about those) and did some digging. That looks like a replica of a 'pre-A' 356 to my untrained eye, of which apparently only ~7600 were made in total. And if I'm comparing apples to apples, a nice authentic 'Pre-A' 356 is worth ~$350-500k USD. A little much to be a summer daily and leaving unattended in random downtown lots lol. Probably at least 10 replicas on the road for every authentic one, like AC Cobras.

Looks like a very well done replica to me, not a cheap and obvious kit car like so many out there.

Kit or not, they are beautiful cars.

As of last year, there was a real 1957 356 Speedster in town that had been fully restored. It was an off white colour with red interior.

I think the owner paid over 400k for it.

I think Ken King of Concept 1 recently acquired a Speedster as well.

Really? I saw a Speedster last time I stopped by the shop. Makes sense, if that's the case.

356's of any iteration are appreciating rapidly, particularly Speedster's and Convertible D's. You would be hard pressed to find a good Speedster for under $300K now. A superb example will cost you much more.

Intermeccanica in Vancouver builds excellent (probably the best on the planet) replicas which are much better than the original in many ways.
