Dealers stopped using OEM glass and now use the same stuff as the 3rd party shops. Often times they even sub the work out to the independents. lol

I would stick with OEM glass if I'm in LA or on summer rides.
Here, I go thru 1 every 30-40k, as long as not huge on distortion, who cares.

It could be the same as BMW and brake jobs - corp subsidizes the work to get people into the building

Just requested quote for a new windshield for my 2 from the dealer to see where they put it. Interested to see where it ends up with Rain sensing wipers and collision camera.
I feel like windshields for a 2 aren't going to be a regular stock item though...

My buddy replaced his 2011 Maxima's windshield for like $235.00 last year. So what you got is in line for the Nissan IMO.

You can request non-oem but oem manufacturer glass at glass shops too.
BMW mainly uses Saint-Gobain or Pilkington. It just won't have the BMW logo on it.
I was quoted about $380 for a Saint-Gobain windshield for my 3 with rain sensing wipers.

The cheap stuff can be terribly distorted.

So wrt BMW,
Estimate at 1,324.01 installed. They are not in the camp of giving out reasonable windshield quotes then...

I made the mistake of putting the cheapest possible glass in one of my old cars. I found it pitted much easier than the OEM glass it replaced. After two years it was in terrible shape.
