So do you guys mostly buy kombucha or do you brew it yourselves?

I just recently started getting into it... wouldn't mind brewing some if it's not too difficult.

Get the scoby, some organic tea, and sugar and every 7-14 days you can get a new batch of tea. Lot easier to baby sit than kefir. I had both before and Kefir I had to tend to it every 2 days or less.

I bought a case. It was so good during the heat wave in June.

Initially I thought it was the worst tasting thing ever, but then I slowly acquired the taste for it. Mainly just love the burps it gives me after a big meal.

I took the one hour course from Meet Up. Making my own stuff now. The Market 17 option is solid, very expensive compared to making it in house.

I would only ever stick to commercially produced kombucha. unless you really know what you're doing, making kombucha at home in a non sterilized environment can produce dangerous results. unlike beer or wine and other alcoholic beverages, pathogens can live in kombucha. yes technically there is a small amount of alcohol produced in the process of making kombucha but not enough to kill all pathogens.

furthermore, most hippy claims are grander than actual science can prove. there are benefits to the probiotics, but no more (in fact, less) than the benefits of probiotics in yogurt.
