Need help on this thing that's aggravating me.

I have this remote from Shaw: (MKT476A-A00, also known as "Millennium 4")

https://bonanzleimages.s3.amazonaws.com/afu/images/1272/0242/23/__57.jpg

You can see that the last buttons before the sliding cover, are "A", "B", and "C".
I don't remember where I read it, but you can program these buttons to automatically send a 3-digit channel number to the cable box. I had the remote programmed that way for only the channels that my grandma watches.

Recently the remote is on its last legs so I bought a replacement, but nowhere can I find the instructions to program these buttons.

HELP PLEASE!
Thanks.

Oh man those are old school. If you take them to any shaw store or mall kiosk they will exchange them for the new style free of charge. Not that it helps you any, but maybe you'll have better luck programming the new style?

90% sure no other remote has this feature (not without paying >$100).
Correct me if I'm wrong

I just got a new Atlas remote and it has the A B C D buttons. I just never used them.

Buy a harmony remote. Way better way to go and you can program any button to do anything.

I guess I may end up going that route but would still rather have a solution for the remote I already have on hand...

Why? It's free and will take 2 minutes of your time when you're next by a shaw store / kiosk.

Because that does not solve my issue of having programmed buttons to immediately switch to certain channels?

Try this:

PROGRAMMING THE TUNE-IN
KEYS FOR SPECIFIC CHANNELS
The Millennium 4 includes three “Tune-In” keys
(located directly below the PAGE keys). Each
can be programmed to remember three of your
favorite channel settings for a total of nine
channels. If you want to change the channels in a
previously programmed “Tune-In” key, you’ll
need to clear the key first (see below).
On the Millennium 4, press and hold SETUP
To program a “Tune-In” key:
1.

On the Millennium 4, press
and hold SETUP until the
LED blinks twice, then relea
SETUP.
2.

Enter 9 - 9 - 5.The LED will
blink twice. Then select a
“Tune-In” key and press it
once.
3.

Press CBL once followed by
the channel number to be
programmed (e.g., 3 - 9).
NOTE: If you are programming a channel for a
Digital Cable Converter, you need to enter all
channels in a 3-digit channel format. For example, if
the desired channel is 39, then enter it as 0- 3- 9.
4.

Press and hold SETUP until
the LED blinks twice, then
release SETUP.
5. To add another channel, repeat steps 1-4
substituting the new channel to be added in
step 3.
NOTE: Programming more than three channels onto
the same “Tune-In” key will overwrite previous
settings.
To clear a “Tune-In” key:
1.

On the Millennium 4, press
and hold SETUP until the
LED blinks twice, then releas
SETUP.
2.

Enter 9 - 9 - 5.The LED will
blink twice. Then select a
“Tune-In” key you want
cleared and press it once.
3.

Press and hold SETUP until
the LED blinks twice, then
release SETUP.
4. This “Tune-In” key is now clear and ready
for reprogramming (see above –
Programming The Tune-In Keys For
Specific Channels).
5. If desired, repeat steps 1 though 4 to clear
another “Tune-In” key.
