This is dumb. For the record, both my wife and my families have been here for 4 generations - an easy 100%. One thing is for sure, we do not carry on with any of the traditions from the ancestors who came from Europe, actually don't have a clue what those traditions might have even been.

Jesus Christ Sugarphreak if you love poles so much just sit on one and spin next time. Fucking morning marth.

All of my grandparents were born here too so even if you deduct the ten years I spent as an Asian I'm still good! That is, if this makes sense to anyone. I personally think whoever came up with this theory is an asshole. :)

An asshole who's marth conveniently made them 100% so they could marginalize everyone else.

You know, so they could hate on the children of immigrants. People who marry people of color. People who spend time in other countries. While maintaining a moral high ground of being 100% Canadian unlike the rest of the plebs. Almost as bad as "pure blood" talk really.

^ So, my family is from Newfoundland, which didn't enter confederation until 1949, so would I start counting then? or when they immigrated to newfoundland in the 1800's? Or not at all cause newfoundland.. lol

Well culturally I am East Indian, and "religiously" I am Muslim...and feel that a few of those traits are intertwined equally with my "Canadian Side" and Canadian "traditions"...as well as I have a lot of European (read English) traditions in my family that I feel are much stronger than my Canadian side...

I'm 37% but my ex-wife is 100%.

I'm now separated though, so does that make me 68.5% or do I drop back down to 37%?

I have no idea, but when you figure it out make sure you add another 15 minutes worth of percentage.

idgaf where you your parents or your wife's parents are from :dunno:

I have heard 3 different stories on who my maternal grandfather is. My Paternal grandfather died when my dad was 12 :dunno:

I just go with the ones who were around and took care of me as a kid

If your wife is 15% Canadian, and assuming 10% didn't end up elsewhere, you're supposed to be 42.5% Chinese (half of 85)

I'm just going :guns: at your math all morning.

Metis on my mothers side, and German/ Welsh on Fathers side.

Mothers side= well it's self explanatory
Father's side= 101%

So I am 101%+ 25% + whatever you want to give me for the Metis.

Pretty fucking Canadian eh?

Similar to the newfie question, do we count past confederation?

Cause assuming we do... by one branch I'm a direct descendant of Robert Land who came to Canada the hard way, and his son Robert Land II, who fought off those damn yanks in 1812 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Land_(1739%E2%80%931818). Y'all can thank my family later for preserving our loyalty to the British crown. :D

So, I'm 268% and my wife is 72% for a combined 170%. Beat that.

BTW I think this is a terrible way to evaluate how 'Canadian' someone is.

Also, I thought I was pretty good with Canadian geography until the other night at Pub Trivia.

One of the rounds was a piece of paper with all of the provincial/territorial flags on it, you had to match the flag with the province/territory and also provide the capital, as well as the license plate slogan.

Was much harder than I thought.

Well according to some genealogy research some distant relative did, I would be over 400% Canadian.

My wife is less than 30% so that drops me down a bit. Don't quite understand how getting married makes you less Canadian.. oh well.

This is how you find out how Canadian you are. Hint: "Canadian" ancestry is not one of their allowable categories. :poosie:

My wife and I are both 3rd gen Canadian, not sure of the past beyond my grandparents. Very disconnected after a certain point.
