Bin / Dumpster rental...

I am going to be doing a deck replacement soon and was thinking about getting a bin to dump the old one in after demolition.

Any have a hook-up or connection for a roll-off bin ?

Anyone on here do a dumpster rental recently?

Thinking of doing one for a one and done house/yard clean sweep as some things are piling up. Don’t have that much ( old deck, some landscaping shit, old play set, some carpet, furniture. Etc. ).

I checked WM and their prices seemed high (1k+ for a week long rental ), I feel like I have seen it for closer to a few hundred bucks but figured I’d see what other people have done. There seems to be a lot of guys offering this in Calgary.

I don’t feel like I need the “service” of having someone load the bin up for me.

If you can get it all into a single pile with good road access, then it's probably just as cheap to call the junk hauling places and let them load it.

Sounds like a Bagster by waste management. $50 for the bag (sometimes half price off Facebook marketplace)... take your time to fill it, then call waste management (reference, I did it in 2012-2014, price was $275) for them to crane it out. So $350 ish for 2013 pricing.

I have a couple really long things so it ends up being a bigger bin than I would prefer. Also why just making a dump run with a truck isn’t really an option.

Yeah sounds like Kill needs a bigger steel bin tho instead of the Bagsters, don’t know rules on dumpster on city street (pretty sure that’s correct needing permit)

Step 4) Have friends throw pile into Uhaul while drinking beer
Step 5) Take it to the landfill yourself

Very pleb I know, but it will be the most frugal way. Got-Junk wanted over $1000 for my basement tear down removal, I did it for $200 (this was over a decade ago too). Don't forget with a bin rental, they'll also charge THEIR dump fees on top of the rental, which do not correlate with the actual landfill fees.

I use same guy off kijiji for a while now 100 if you have a truck load 200-250 if you have a trailer load. Works good since I got rid of my truck for 1-2 times a year need stuff hauled away

Dumpster companies aren't charities. They're running a company not helping you clean up for free.
Dump fees are expensive and factor in your driving back and forth and unloading.
I've done both ways. When you're doing your own reno work, worth paying someone else and you get to load it once and done.
I also have a family discount which makes it an easier choice for me.

As most of you have noticed I'm not very active here anymore other than in the marketplace the odd time. Thanks for all the nice recommendations but I've finally managed to esacape and I'm moving on. I sold my company to somebody with the necessary drive and motivation and I'm working for said company part time while I finish up a course I'm taking online and getting going in that direction. Also sold both my trucks and have a more or less normal ride for the time being- until I start making the kind of money I was used to. In the meantime I've never been happier to get up and go to work for $25 an hour lol. Just enough to live and not dip into my savings too too much. Never thought I'd be able to handle that but, lots of personal growth, opening my mind, healing practices, and the gyms being closed was probably one of the best things that could ever happen for me. Not saying my attitude is great now but it's better.

The buy out was finalized this March but since last August I've been helping this company gain traction. The owner is a super nice guy who was in the same position I was- completely done and checked out after 15 years of doing what he was doing. I can guarantee they will be everything I was and then some if anyone on here needs junk removal services.

Even better is a dump trailer rental.

This is the way to go, find a private rental on kijiji and go to town. Maximum flexibility unless you have something ridiculously long, but I think up to 10' long can be sticking out the back as long as it is flagged. You can't have much stuff longer than the typical 12-14' dump trailer I'd assume though.

Keep in mind, cops are starting to setup secured load traps at the dumps lately for maximum revenue generation.
