Personally I wouldn't spend $650k on a 1070sq.ft bungelow, but this place is swank for the area.

Back yard looks sweet but I don't really like the inside.

Swimming pools in Calgary are retarded.

There was a really nice home for sale in Meadowlark park a couple months ago but they converted 4/5 of the back yard to a swimming pool. It was one of the only reasons I didn't buy it because I didn't want to spend another $40k to infill it.

Why would anybody think a swimming pool in this City is a good idea?

Skating rink for 2/3 of the year? That hot tub is also a long walk from the house in the winter.

Yea an inground, outdoor pool makes no sense in Calgary unless you require swimming on a daily basis for medical reasons, for 3 months of the year.

Its not baller, but it sure isn't ghetto either. Well... Not on the east side of Fairmount anyways, lol.

That would be a hell of a starter home if it wasn't $650k

I love most of it. Too bad it's so small. I would have changed the stairs to the basement.

A friend of mine lives on one of the baller lakes and has an outdoor pool. He tells me he gets more use out of the pool because the lake is only warm enough to swim in July-August, whereas his pool stays swimmable from April to October.

i like that backyard a lot, i would spend a ton of time out there if that was my place :dunno:

That's why I don't understand people who say outdoor pools are useless here. I mean, it's not like your using your backyard from November to April anyways.

I have seen similar homes in Douglasdale that cost more and less swank.

If the reno include all window and insulation redone, it's not a bad bungalow if you can deal with 1970s 8' ceilings.

And in walking distance to school? It's great for kids.

Really, what do people do in their backyards? gardening and?

The basement in there is a little meh but everything else is sweet

Get a dog, Throw baseball/football with kids, Beer drinking games etc...

A lawn is a much better use of space than a pool, especially in Calgary.

Man I would love a swimming pool! I would have it covered though so I could use it year round.
But I bet building something like that would cost a fortune.

Cost factors aside, one could argue that a public park is only ever a couple blocks away, vs a public pool.

Ugh, so much nope. They put a lot of money into this house, but didn't change anything that I would have (i.e. open walls, move stairs, etc). And yeah the pool is sweet, but I didn't even like maintaining a hot tub when I had one, definitely won't ever catch me with an in ground pool.

So... you mean an indoor pool? haha. There's a bunch in Springbank. :bigpimp:

I figure you get more days of use out of an outdoor pool in Calgary than those who have lake places in Kelowna or something who only get out there 5-6 weekend a year

A few hundred times cheaper to lol

I know a few people with indoor ones in calgary, they never use them as they are working 7 days a week to pay for them lol.

Cool place, but the kitchen/dining room would drive me bonkers. Save some rock money and knock out a wall or something

The outside fireplace thing is rad. Backyard looks really well done

That's fair, I'm just reminiscing on my childhood  My dad and I would throw the ball around just about every night growing up.

I think its a wicked house, but its only worth ~$500k, you're paying a premium because of the pool and the "wow" factor of having one.

We have a pool in Calgary that gets frequently used in the summer. It is an outdoor pool as well which is heated so technically we can use it in the winter as well, even though that has only happened like once or twice. Love having one and it's freaking enjoyable as hell when you can.

Just cause we don't live in California or something doesn't mean we don't get to have and enjoy certain amenities. Usually for winter, we just our enclosed hot tub room.

In places like Calgary I always thought outdoor pools retracted from the cost. You can only use it a few months of the year, maintenance and chemicals are a big hassle (and cost), and you lose a ton of usable space. Looks sweet but that pool will be a deal breaker for a lot of people IMO.

It won't sell for $659k.

Its the highest priced house in Acadia by $130k. I could see it selling in the $550-$575k range.

Listing does state that the pool is heated. Also I think if you can afford a pool you should be able to afford to hire someone to come by to maintain it.

Hot tub looks like one of those 2 persons Spaberry tubs. :thumbsdow

I grew up in Acadia, it was always pretty damned safe imo, anything in that surrounding vicinity is pretty tame.

I'm not sure on the where the demographic lives that still thinks the entire SE is one giant Penbrooke/Dover/Forest Lawn. My general consensus is anything east of Macleod and South of Glenmore is not ghetto at all, with the exception of Queensland and Bonavista Downs

Ask anyone who lives in a nice southeast community where they live, and they'll tell you the exact community. They'll reply with "Acadia" or "Bonavista" or "Sundance". Ask anyone who lives in the not as nice communities, and they'll reply with "the southeast".

Try it.
