If you are interested in some more hardcore (but short) learning infotainment, PBS Space Time on youtube is AWESOME and apparently has only been a thing since this year.

The host is fairly clear that most of the stuff he talks about can not be learned in 5 minutes, which is why everything is referenced in the description with links to papers for further reading.

I'd like to think I'm the kind of guy who follows a lot of scientific development, but its really interesting to learn new things that were not even remotely mentioned a decade ago in high school.

After a recent "philosophical" discussion between a friend and I on a 12 hour road trip to Seattle about time travel/teleportation which evolved into a discussion of what consciousness actually is (no drugs involved :p ) I find some of the topics discussed by PBS to be highly relevant. Extremely interesting that the host's personal opinion is there is no such thing as free will!
