Long story short, my garage is un-insulated. I would like to be able to go out and do some work in there from time to time over the winter, and it is going to need to be insulated, otherwise I am going to need all 3 of my space heaters running.

Where is the best place to get insulation? Anyone have some around they want to off load?

Strangely enough, in my travels I have never had to insulate anything, so this has never come up...

I usually check these in this order:

Alberta Drywall - http://www.albertadrywall.ca
1-800 Drywall - http://www.1800drywall.ca
Home Improvement Warehouse - http://www.thehomeimprovementwarehouse.com/

Then I would see if the big 3 have a sale, and price match :D
(Lowes, Home Depot, Rona, Reno Depot, etc)

You can also purchase spray foam kits off the internet if you are interested in that too.

I may have a few extra batts I don't need. What's your joist spacing and is it 2x4 or 2x6?

SpikerS:
Baby powder your arms up and mask up.
The baby powder trick does work.

make sure your garage is empty when doing this...

i did my garage ceiling last winter with my car still in it...

Vapor barrier and insulation from the roof of a crappy Porsche...

2x4 walls, and 2x6 ceiling, all of it is 24" on center. I will make any width work. Let me know what you have.

LOL, I was planning on a long sleeve shirt and mask, never heard of using BP before, but a quick google search has everyone claiming it works too...I will give it a go!

Will do, I'll check on the particulars when I get home and send you a PM. It's not much, basically a partial package of the pink fibreglass.

I've got some you can have for free. Bought one of those big rolls and used 2 x 2 feet of it to patch up a wall.
