As its obvious new GM's are all the rage. Lets put everything in one thread!

Whats everyone done to there trucks so far?

Only thing I have done is add a Rough Country leveling kit.

http://www.roughcountry.com/gm-leveling-lift-kit-1307-8.html

Left side took about an hour, right side 15 min haha.

I like the look a lot, thinking about running 32's now.

Discuss.

'14 Sierra SLE 4x4 Z71 with the 5.3L

It's overall stock, with only 2 non stock things:

- Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs
http://www.goodyear.eu/home_en/images/WRL-Duratrac_tcm2093-111929.png
- Morimoto HID kit from the retrofit source (sierra spec with the capacitor link):

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1a8932787757a8ae4cbc8144a20b336f/m/o/morimoto_sierra_spec_hid_system_2.jpg

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid-systems/morimoto-elite-hid-system-sierra-low-beam.html#.VlSQSvlVhBc

Took me about 2 hrs (1 hr of it was trying to figure out why it wasn't turning on until I realized the capacitor link is reverse polarity). If anyone is thinking of this kit, i'd recommend getting the extension for the harness - the wiring is fairly short for a truck. I did have a bulb go out - however they were quick in sending me a replacement (~1 week of shipping).

I didn't do a before/after pic though so if anyone has a Sierra with the OEM headlights, and wants to see the difference i'm open to meeting up.

2015 Sierra 2500HD 6.0 Gasser 4x4 Double Cab. Black! I bought it 2 weeks ago, beginning of November.

Mostly stock - this is my dedicated tow rig for my 26' travel trailer. I have a 2013 Sierra that is my daily driver.

I added some 6" running boards, an EZ down tailgate damper and I'm looking to add some mud flaps. Anyone have ideas for mudflaps?

Bulletproof makes the best flaps, I think. I had a set on my 2010. You'll have to call them to find out where they sell them. I don't have any good pictures of them but they're pretty heavy. They don't have them on their website but you can get the number there.

I can't afford a new GMC.

High River. PM me your info, I'll have the owner of the place call you, that way you avoid the sales guys commission, and he'll deal with you direct.

I would also like to upgrade to HIDs, but am worried about them going out on me after a while as most aftermarket HIDs do, I always see one of the lights burned out on trucks I see passing by

The truck is crazy responsive now. He actually disables the AFM so you're running in V8 all the time so I'm not waiting for 4 cylinders to wake up when passing.

Mileage once everything is dialed in is about the same.

2015 SLT All Terrain w/ 5.3

So far:

Window Tint
Headlight & Taillight Tint
3M
Radar Detector Hard Wire Kit
Tyro Spray In Liner
Weather Tech Mats

Researching tires still (dedicated winter vs. A/T w/ Snowflake) and also Tonneau Covers (http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=395637).

I take it leveling kits are only for aesthetic reasons?

After dealing with a Jack Carter and Shaw GMC and having a shitty experience I went and dealt with Jim Findlay @ Shagannapi and had a great experience. He was very patient, & professional. My truck had to be dealer transferred based on the options I wanted and he would provide me daily updates until we found the right truck and got it transferred in. Would highly recommend. PM me for info if you like.

Mainly, although you can go up in tire size. I think up to 32's with the rough country 2 inch leveling kit.

2015 silverado 2LT with the 5.3. Will likely keep it mostly stock. Not sure about the levelling kit. Work parkade clearance is only 6'8" so it already makikg me nervous lol. It's my first truck and the plan is to keep it for a decade.
Daily drive for now. Once it's paid off it will be relegated to just the tow vehicle. Trailer to follow next year.

Bought from Shaw, as I have family there.

Anyone have a experience with a good rear seat cover for a large dog? I would prefer if it can be set up in 5 minutes so I can take it down quick for when I need to put someone in the back.

I used TJ Quinton at Davis GM in Lethbridge.

Did like 85% of the deal over text msg on a Tuesday, and had it delivered to me in Calgary on the Friday.

We just use one of those hammock things you can buy from Home Sense I think (looks like this (http://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiVs_Od96nJAhUJlIgKHTDWDXAQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autoanything.com%2Fpet-travel%2F69A6394A0A0.aspx&psig=AFQjCNGEY0OEaqexC9_Hr70zmwHrBeiECA&ust=1448484437912832) ). I clipped it to the back of the drivers & passengers headrests and then flipped the back seats up. Our dog now basically has her own living room back there  and if I slam on the brakes she can't come flying over the middle console. Let me know if you want me to snap a pic.

It's interesting a lot of people going to the smaller towns - i went to GSL and was told I'm getting "Employee pricing" (usually BS line imo) and it was the best deal they could give

Was curious and driving home after work that day and thought i'd stop by Southgate only to find out what GSL was offering after "marking it down" was Southgate's sticker price :thumbsdow

I honestly I hate dealing with car lots

Although it's my work truck, I'll list

2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD. 6.0L Gas, crew cab, long box. Ali arc front bumper w/ led lights, air bags in the rear, headache rack, box rails, wooden box lining, 2 way radio and cell phone booster.

Ran the duratracks first and got 110,000KMs out of them, which was fantastic. The only reason I had to take them off was I punctured one tire with someone that left a good 2 inch slash. Almost instant flat. Could have probably ran them another 10,000KM for sure.

Also, had the transmission rebuilt, then it died again so they put in a brand new transmission

2015 GMC SLE A/T 5.3

I've added BFG K02's, Undercover Flex and a stubby antenna.

I"m being relocated to Houston and won't be taking the truck with me so if anyone is interested in the truck or any of the parts let me know. I don't leave until April but after that it's fair game.

Jack carter has a NEW set of 18" diamond cut all terrain wheels with name brand winters (blizzak, or hankook) 265/65/18 for $2000. They're sitting on the showroom floor as a special package put together by them and gmc accessories Canada.

Not a bad deal, tires easily $350+ each. Wheels pre balanced all you gotta do is put them on.

It's a smart move to have all that stuff at the dealerships, because a) if you buy them with the vehicle, you should be able to roll the cost into your payments, and b) once you are out that door, you'll spend your money at a tire shop.

The blow by vapors that a catch can catch are mostly oil and oil doesn't freeze especially in a hot engine bay. I've never had an issue with a catch can in any of my cars.

On another topic I took my truck to the winter driving school. Me (and the instructor) were shocked how balanced the truck is on ice/snow. I don't even have winters. I would say that my GM without winters is as balanced and stable as my F150 with winters. Obviously stopping distance is still going to suffer but this truck is awesome. That and all the little things (turning the heat down when bluetooth phone call comes in, reverse mirror tilt) and all the little things make me absolutely love this truck over my Ford products. One of my favorite is the ability to only have the back of the seat turned on. I didn't expect I would use it much but it is really nice to have the ability.

Only two things I miss so far are the SYNC in my ford (I have a 2010 Silverado, so old entertainment system) and the keypad entry. Other than that, I am loving my truck.

I've always found the Sierra's and Silverado's to have always been more dynamic to drive... more "car-like" in the half tons and drove the nicest in the HD due to their IFS.

The only reason why I'd stick with Tundra/F150 is the sheer volume of cab room in comparison to the Dodge or GMC/Chevy offerings.

Didn't even know they made Aftermarket LED headlight bulbs. Also curious.

Do they also have a ballast to wire in? Will they work with the factory projectors? What's the light output compared to the factory halogen bulbs and an HID kit?

No Ballasts

Yes they will work with the factors proejcts, small mods to dust shields may be needed but practically plug and play

significantly better than factory halogens

Just giving you a hard time! I think it's good the manufacturers are offering alternatives to a full crew...and not be stuck with an extended cab.

I have a crew but only ever use the back for the dogs...I could easily get away with a double but an extended would suck...for access and resale.

you can get a 6.5 on a crew right? It does get silly long though.

I do like the extended cab and a 6.5 box... looks like a "real" truck

are there any "relatively large" extended cabs out there? I see alot of Tundra's as extended rather than crew.

Ya you can get a crew with the 6.5 apparently they are not too common; wouldn't fit on my townhouse driveway anyways. I definitely did not want an extended so ford was more expensive when comparing the gm double to a crew

The manufacturers had to change because of noise. Suicide doors with no pillar are awful for noise/vibration. I do like the double cab. Everyone I know who has a crewcab rarely has anyone in the back seats, it just makes moving stuff so much easier, plus you can haul more people in a pinch if necessary!

Depends, all crew cab 3/4 tons have been 6.5' boxes since the early millenium (except dodges I think could be had with a short box, they look silly though). I don't mind wheeling them around unless I am downtown, and once you get used to a 6.5' box, it's tough to go back. With the new 1/2 tons being able to tow close to 11k lbs, it's a great alternative compared to going to the 3/4 ton if you don't need the additional durability.

Suicide doors are not only noisy and cause rigidity hassles, but they make it hard to meet side impact crash standards. I was shocked that Ford stayed with this style door on their new trucks.

Slight different direction here..

Who's looking forward to the next Gen GMC/Silv?

Aluminum, 10sp and probably a touch more power. 5.3L would be the sweet spot for a REAL 28mpg locally on the highway.

I've read that's it. 10 and done.

More than that packaging really becomes an issue especially because of use in multi-vehicle platforms like the corvette and caddys.

10sp corvette will be hilarious as it idles down the highway in 4 cyl mode.

Anyone else get a recall for the trailer hitch? apparently affects trucks with the z82 package.

Got my recall notice last week. GM rep said 2 week lead time on parts so book the appointment a couple weeks out.

Called the dealer today and they wanted me to come in for an inspection to confirm the recall. After some arguing I told them to have the parts ready for when I booked the visit to avoid going to the dealer twice.

This will be my first service and should get a free oil change. Dealer wanted me to spend $200 CAD on what appeared to be an oil change and tire rotation.

If this is what is to be expected going forward they will not be doing anything besides warranty work.

Where do you guys go for maintenance?

Z82 is Max Trailering pkg? If so then no.

Tire rotation + a simple oil change should not be $200, they must of been quoting you some additional work.

When I bought at Shaganappi they threw in 2 years of free maintenance :D

Z82 is just the trailering package.

ya the call centre person said it was an oil change, tire rotation and like a 13 point inspection or some number. Truck only has 8,000 km it shouldn't be due for anything.

Sounds like your dealer is the issue..

I had 4 free oil changes (40K) from GM, I would just tell the dealer when I brought it in.

I am almost at 70K now and oil changes cost around 100 typically. The truck uses 8 liters of a specific type of oil so that drives up the cost. I change it at 15% life so its usually 9-10K.

^ this. There should be 4 free oil changes included in the purchase, whether new or used.

I pay $52 to upgrade to Full Syn for each one I think.

$100 seems reasonable for an oil change. You guys keep going to the dealer when you're outta free ones?

I don't understand this logic.. who cares what age the tech is.. Changing oil is so easy to do so I will let a 17 year old or a 70 year old do it. You pay for convenience and if the tech fucks up, then it will get fixed.

But I will always check the oil level after I go. The only reason I don't do it myself is because I do not feel like dealing with the mess anymore.

the only reason why I get my oil changed elsewhere is the warranty coverage...

I've been bit in the butt, even having receipts with 3rd party and manufacture warranty.

With Ford?

My engine was toast after about 40k and I'd only had oil changes at Mr. Lube. Printed the receipts from their website and no issues with warranty coverage. Probably the only good thing about owning a Ford.
