For a newer community, why the hell does Cranston have so much crime???

Looked at the crime stats compared to Kincora, and it makes Cranston look like Forest Lawn....

Huge proportion of neighbors who don't know each other? Higher concentration of easily stolen toys? People who work out of town for extended periods of time?

I think the fact that people in Cranston have a tendency to be very showy make for easy marks for pre-meditated crime?

Also being on the edge of town might make it easy to hide things once stolen? Or even just the first stop for people prowling on their way into town from the south?

And you wonder why people want gated communities down there

Cranston you can flee via stoney or deerfoot. Kinora you'd get caught while stuck in traffic on Symon's Valley / Beddington Trail

I just wish my neighbors in cranston were "showy" enough to just cut their fucking grass.

I have owned 2 houses in cranston - starter home followed by a move up front attached, on 2 seperate sides of the community, maybe 25% of either street actually cuts their fucking lawn or shovels their snow.

Cranston sucks, this will be my last place in here.

I guess the guy never heard of door locks? Or does the car not allow you to lock the doors when the key fob is not inside?

Don't most remote starts have a shutoff when you try to drive it without the key?

I also don't see any mention of a remote start

Only if you can make it to Stoney or deerfoot. Hilarious that the roads are still that bad there. And of course, F350 on shit tires.

Both our vehicles have remote start and need to have the key in and in he lock position to hit the brakes without the car shutting off. I guess a flathead is all that was required?!

F series trucks are renowned for being incredibly easy to steal. Criminals like em because they are big trucks and feel invincible in them and from what I hear use them for a large majority of crimes

Our older Ford company trucks have been stolen so many times... People just use them as easy transportation. Hopefully the new ones are harder to steal.

Is crime in cranston that bad? But we are west of deerfoot!!

I've lived here a couple years and haven't heard of much (minus the bank robbery) and all my neighbours cut their grass. Would live here again lol

I always assumed aburn bay was the ghetto

The truck is pretty unique so they wouldn't have got very far without being spotted. Also they didnt make it far because the truck was in 2wd mode.

Los Crangeles

Stolen cars, b n es. They break into houses, steal keys, come back later and steal cars. Happens all the time. I'd rather drive thru Copperlawn than LC.

I'm with you on that. I've lived here for over two years and have never heard of anything (minus that homocide around halloween). The worst that has happened to us is the developer dug a 4x4 hole in my front lawn because they thought they were supposed to plant a tree there.

Auburn Bay on the other hand...

Cranston reported crimes last 6 months - 200

Auburn Bay - 100

Double and stones throw from each other haha

:dunno: I'm in the new development part of Cranston so maybe its a bit quieter there with all of the construction traffic. That mixed with the fact that as of right now there is only one route in and out of the area. I've never had anything go missing, seen any vandalism (except those god damn kids who keep drawing cute drawings with side walk chalk), or anyone in my immediate area get broken into. Couple of car wrecks at the sitting intersection and people throwing personal waste into construction dumpsters is about as much as I've seen.

I'm not saying crimes don't happen in Cranston, I'm just really surprised that it has such a rap when I live there and haven't heard this at all.

What part of Cranston did this happen in? And yes I can agree that there are quite a few "showy" houses in Cranston, but I'd think all neighborhoods have that to some degree.

I take this all back. I watched a man get beat with what looked like a hammer today in broad daylight. That's scary shit.

I don't want to give to many details but basically one pick up truck (truck A) rolled up on another pick up truck (truck B) that was parked (pretty sure that truck B lives at the house it was in front of). The driver and passenger of truck A got out, forced the door of truck B open and started beating the ever living fuck out of him. Passenger of truck B ran so the passenger of truck A went into the passenger side door of truck B and started boot stomping the driver. The guys from truck A had their faces covered but they were lighter skin toned.

As soon as I saw the hammer (or baton or what ever it was) I called 911. The beating lasted about 5 minutes and 2 cop cars and an ambulance showed up about about 2 minutes after the first truck left. They weren't there for longer than 20 minutes so my guess is that the victim didn't cooperate which makes me think that buddy knew this was going to happen.

Still pretty rattled about it. Thank god the Mrs. wasn't home otherwise I'm sure we'd be packing up right now.

EDIT: Clarity

Around 11:45 this morning. I'm doing a 1pm-1am shift so I was just hopping in the shower. It didn't happen very far from you. Don't want to say exact street but its easily walk able from where I think your house is.
