Great read and pictures if you like old Porsche's.

A story about a guy from the UK who flew to Canada to buy a car. There is some local Calgary content as well.

The beat up 911 at the very end of the thread - is there any info where that came from? I'm pretty sure that was run in the $500 beater endurance race here a few years back (24 hours of LeMons). If not, my parents neighbour built one that was remarkably similar to it. Very cool read.

Another reason why I LOVE Canada. Common sense rules over regulations and red tape. That's cute.

The beat up 911 at the end was run in the 24 hours of LeMons. Scott (the local guy) has owned it for a number of years. I recall him telling me that he picked it up cheap since it was in a fire.

I should also note that the thread isn't finished. If you enjoy the read, keep checking in as there will continue to be updates.

I'm positive my parents' neighbour is friends with this Scott person then, that car was in his garage for a couple days before the race. Very cool to see that car pop up again like this.

I don't know where he's from in the UK, but I assume it's either an industrialised area, or a satellite town of a larger city...simply because of his views of the British people being less friendly and receptive than than Canadians, because honestly, I've found the opposite to be true from my experiences thus far

the thread is worth a read however. Even got me checking out the prices of old Porsches...although I'm not a 912 fan, I've always wanted an '80s 928 Turbo-S, my woodwork teacher in High School had an immaculate one and I've considered getting one many a time

Yup. I also accidentally drove through a shooting of the Fargo tv show last time I was down there. It's a good little prairie cruise road

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a 928 turbo haha, you'll just have to settle for a 928 S. ;)

Wasn't this Murchisons old car? So much boner jams for air cooled 911s these days I can't believe this thing went to the UK, people love to burn away money.

Either that, or he drove a 968 turbo? haha the two look quite similar from some angles. They both have the same silly headlights.

Are there any 968 Turbos in Canada? Last time I saw one for sale in Europe, it was 300k.

I know Darcy Jovic had a yellow one that he built up, but he wasn't a teacher.

The yellow 968 Turbo was built by Kelly Moss Racing and John Milledge. It is still in Canada

It was actually a Chumpcar race. I was on a team racing that year and again last year in Edmonton, though the 911 wasn't at the more recent one. There is another Chumpcar race this year in July and my new team is going to be campaigning a 944 Rothman cup replica car. Hoping to see some more Calgary teams coming up.

Right, Chumpcar. For the life of me, I couldn't remember what it was called and I thought it was LeMons.

That's awesome you participate in that, it sounds like it would be a lot of fun.
