Daesh getting up in YYC?

CALGARY – A video purportedly showing a shooting at Calgary’s Ten X nightclub that sent one man to hospital was posted to YouTube Monday.

The video appears to be raw CCTV footage of the incident, and matches a video shown to Global News by club staff on Sunday. Calgary police said they were unable to determine if the footage was authentic and declined to comment.

Police were called to the club in the 1100 block of 10 Avenue S.W. on Sunday morning after a man approached the front door and fired several shots inside.

A 38-year-old man inside the bar was struck by the gunfire. He was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The shooter was tackled by bar staff. He and another suspect were arrested at the scene.

Police said they are searching for a third suspect who was able to flee the scene before officers arrived.

Mohamed Elmi, 31, and Mohamed Salad, 29, both of Calgary, have each been charged with numerous offences including attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life and aggravated assault.

Ten X Nightclub has not responded to Global Calgary’s request for comment.

The nightclub released a statement on Facebook Sunday evening, which said staff were forever grateful to patrons and the community for all their “love and support at this sad time.”

I was reading about this yesterday, is it "terror" or gang/drugs? That was the social media question yesterday at least. My money was on drugs. :dunno:

Vid is up on youtube. It shows the person shooting seemingly at random into the club. Doesn't look like he's targeting anyone.

Also, the video shows all 3 people in vehicle being arrested. Why is the police looking for a 3rd suspect? :dunno:

Good on the media for not trying to position this as a terrorist attack just due to the perps race.

Man - those bouncers took a HUGE risk. Not only was the shooter armed, but his cohorts were right there in the car - they easily could have been killed.

Good thing this isn't Brazil.

That 2nd guy to get out of the car and then try and pull his friend away from the bouncers was doing a very terrible job, must of been super drunk or high.

This is my question.

#1, shooter - gets tackled by bouncers

#2, driver - starts pulling away, cops yank him out arrest him

#3, white shirt guy - was in the back seat, passenger side, gets out and loiters around, gets arrested.

Cops this morning report 2 out of 3 arrested, looking for 3rd?

A couple of the bouncers/staff involved gave their recounting of the incident in a Reddit post. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/40ao9t/whats_going_on_at_ten_nightclub_at_10th_ave_11th/)

I received a reply from the police:

"At the time of the occurrence several people in the immediate area were briefly detained during the commotion and subsequently released.

With the information immediately available our Officer's main concern were the offender with the firearm, the vehicle's driver and of course any victims.

Once the situation was stabilized, interviews conducted and CCTV reviewed it was learned that there was a third person involved."

Fair enough, I imagine it was just a "Busy" situation overall, that third guy just sorta slipped out of the car before the cops arrived... then stood there casually. Like WTF, coming onto the scene he certainly didn't look like he would have been involved at all (just like the girl standing next to the car)

Two guys named Mohamed shoot up a night club?

Most likely they were trying to cap another guy named Mohamed that owed them money. You know, he owes you fifty bucks and won't pay up so better kill his ass. Petty hood bullshit.

Good on those bouncers. Fighting anyone with a weapon - let alone a firearm - without one of your own is incredibly dangerous. I am surprised to see how fast the police were at scene and had already arrested all culprits, good on them for jumping in right away. It was a risky situation for all involved, and it saved many lives.

Wasn't it the guy at entrance who was shot?

Considering the type of night club TenX really is as well as the crowd that frequents it on Saturday nights...I wouldn't be too concerned about a terror threat or attack.

For us people out of the loop, what type of night club is it and what kind of crowd frequents it? I didn't even know Calgary had nightclubs anymore hahaha

Saturdays are Cherry Saturdays...Hip Hop, Old School, Dancehall.
And the occasional EDM show that draws a completely different crowd.

You are basically describing Commonwealth just down the street.

TenX has a few EDM nights but most of it is rap/hip hop from what Ive seen on weekends. Its got lots of 'gangsta' wannabes and that type of crowd from my recollection.

Crowd varies quite a bit depending on what sub genre of EDM is playing, never been on a Saturday hip hop night but have heard they are best to be avoided

Seriously? commonwealth was never ever heat bag. It's always been a bunch of white university students. IMO commonwealth is probably THE safest club to go to any day of the week, that being said, if you're over 25 you're going to feel super old there. It's probably the only club where you can get 85%+ white non harmless people and have a good time without looking over your back...ever.

TenX after the change over from the gay bar has been your weird EDM, furry boot wearing, bear costume fuzzy shit type of people, with of course your typical nammers at the back that like to party since there is no more after hours here, totally harmless though, never looking for trouble.

If ten has changed since last i've been to hip hop saturdays or whatever, usually attracts a more foreign crowd, like how standard is now, or the end of the black betty days.
