I'm addicted to shawarmas and found a recipe for it at home. Made the marinade and it smells insanely good. But I must have pickled turnips, but where do I buy a jar of them?!

I can't help you with that.

However can you share you recipe for the Shawarma? Where do you get the meat? And how do you prep it?

You can get them from Basha Foods on barlow.

The recipe calls for chicken thighs, cooking and browning. Worth a shot. I'm making it for dinner tonight and can post the result for ya. Marinaded the chicken over night and it's all I can think about haha.

Here's the recipe.

Why not just pickle them yourself?

You can buy them at any middle East supermarket. Where do you livee - there are several shops in YYC.

Jimmy's A&A should have them.

FYI,
The recipe I posted is damn ridiculous. So easy to make and insanely good, wow. I'm blown away. No more royal kebab for me. I'm going to make my own! Plenty of chicken leftover for like 3 more. Must add cucumbers, tomatoes, hot sauce, tzazkti, pickles, pickled turnips and enjoy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have a food coma

Superstore has them in the ethnic foods aisle. Usually I find them on the lower shelves. They also have sharwarma spices and tahina sauce

We made this today and were not impressed. Chicken was very bland and not worth the time in our opinion. Will not make this again. We only marinated for about 6 hours, noit sure if that's why it turned out so poor.

This is a far better recipe that works and fills my crave for middle eastern chicken: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/12/serious-eats-halal-cart-style-chicken-and-rice-white-sauce-recipe.html

Fair enough. I marinated mine for about 24hours and it was very flavourful.
