I'm looking to get into professional go kart racing in Alberta. Anyone on this forum currently doing this?

Wanted to know personal experiences and cost to maintain your Karts. Did you build your own from ground up or buy used etc.

thanks!

I'm not sure if you would call it "professional", but definitely competitive. I have an ICC shifter kart I could part with. It's a CRG Kali kart with a 125cc Pavesi engine and MacMinarelli gearbox. It's got a good frame and could be built into something a bit more tame. I've also got gear and tools that I'm not using any more either. Let me know if you are interested.

I bought it used and then spent some time rebuilding it. It's not hard to work on and there are good shops in Calgary for parts.

A local rallyist, Azam Deen (and his shop CAMS Automotive located just north of the ring road) and his family have been very active with karting in Calgary. He might be a good resource to talk to.

Interested as well. Have thought about it the last year or so and decided Spec Miata is a bit out of reach financially now but karts have always been fun.

is there any kind of "amateur day" for these places for someone who just wants to try it out without buy their own cart? I'm guessing this is a very different experience than speeders.

If you take the length of time it took to write that post, and look at the website, you'd find this right away.

Good place to start. I emailed them asking for the 2016 dates.
