So one would think that transferring a very simple Wordpress site from an existing domain to a new domain both hosted at the same provider would be a very simple process. An exact copy, no changes needed at all but this afternoon this had proved to be most difficult - had it 95% done using a variety of plugins and such and then all went awry on the new domain and I had to uninstall and reinstall Wordpress on the new domain to get going again.

Anyhow, I'm going to keep trying things and am open to any and all suggestions. Fucking ridiculous that it just can't be simple.

Is the domain name the same?

If not, check out WP DB transfer pro. In effect, it makes transferring WordPress sites super simple.

1) Install plugin on live site, download DB
2) Upload WP content folder from old host to new host's WP installation
3) Install plugin on new host, upload DB
4) Follow instructions
5) DONESO.

I've transferred literally hundreds of websites doing exactly that :)

All the links: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-migrate-db-pro/

If the domain is the name, the process is equally as easy:

1) Take DB backup via phpMyAdmin
2) Upload WP content to new WP installation
3) Import DB into new host phpMyAdmin
4) Doneso.

Doesn't GoDaddy have a service that will transfer everything?

https://ca.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting?isc=gocawpca01&currencytype=CAD&mkwid=sQEqYqPjQ_pcrid_93758863518_pkw_godaddy%20wordpress_pmt_b_pdv_c&cvosrc=ppc.google.godaddy%20wordpress&cvo_crid=93758863518&matchtype=b&gclid=CPyZsp6L-8sCFQJsfgodbuUDKw

Often times the hosting site will do the transfer for you for zero cost. Otherwise, a plugin like A790 is recommending makes it easy and done in less than 15 minutes. I've done dozens if I can do it you can too.
