Hello,
Up for sale is my 2003 Jeep TJ Sport. This is the 4.0L engine with 5-speed manual transmission. Completely stock mechanically; only aftermarket items are a Mopar towing hitch and audio deck.
I purchased it 3 months ago and have driven it around 800 km. A cracked signal light was replaced after I took ownership, which was the only thing that needed to be addressed.
The Jeep only has 142,800 km on the odometer and this will not be increasing much at the rate I drive this. An oil change is due at around 145,000 km. Right now the car gets driven once a week.
My intended use for the TJ was for transporting cargo - which my 2 other cars are not the greatest for – and very occasional off-roading. I’ve always thought Jeeps were cool and wanted to try one out. Also of all the options in this price range, TJs are the only ones that are easy to find with a manual transmission.
After some honest introspection, I doubt I will get around to the off-roading thing enough (if at all) to justify owning such a purpose built vehicle. My current plan is to replace it with an AWD wagon which will provide me with more cargo room (at least horizontally) and meet my demands for a more refined, comfortable, city/highway cruiser.
As you will see from the pictures below, the car is in great shape, especially the interior. Exterior has normal wear you would expect for a vehicle of this year and minor rust spot near the passenger side door but is otherwise in great shape. Some typical surface rust on the undercarriage, but nothing that needs to be addressed. Comes with hard top (no leaks) as seen in pictures, and a black soft top. Rear seats are currently removed for more cargo space; they will obviously be provided as part of sale.
Transmission shifts really smoothly, which was surprising having previously owned only Japanese cars all my life. Previous owner completed over $1000 of servicing 2,000 km ago which included a new radiator amongst other items. Heater blows hot, wipers all work and no issues with 4WD. No A/C, or power locks/windows, so nothing to go wrong there! Does come with compustar remote starter; however the fob battery might be dead as it does not work and I haven’t bothered to change the battery based on how little I drive the car and the warmer weather these days. Basically, the car is mechanically sound and needs nothing!
My intention of this above-averagely detailed post is to answer as many questions as possible about the car before you contact me. So please read the information closely and do your research if you are interested, as I’ve done mine. Yes, I know there are TJs on kijiji for less, but you’re likely looking at one that easily has over 200,000 km on the odometer, is older, not in great condition, and probably has the 2.4L engine and no Dana 35 rear axel.
Beyond price: $7,200. Currently only posted on beyond as I prefer not to deal with kijiji (even though the patrons are not always mutually exclusive).
