View Full Version : Fun car for $400 payment

What's out there available for 48month lease, 20 or 24k/year at $400ish payment?

I already have a golf tsi for the gf. I was looking at a base manual wrx (feeling a bit ricer) that checks in at $406. TLX is another option.

Anything you can think of or anyone buy anything recently feel free to chime in. Keep the budget balling alive.

I have a 2015 WRX. I would suggest that it is a great car to buy (it's really fun to drive) but and a big but.....you have to live with a terrible stereo, it is very hard to drive smoothly (many people I know that have driven manuals extensively have issues with it) and the paint quality is awful on these cars. Be ready to shell out for 3M, a stereo (at least a deck and new front speakers) The other thing that kind of sucks is that it comes with summer only dunlop tires, you will have to replace those too.

The WRX is great if you add about 3K to the price tag to cover those items. I absolutely love mine, just hate the paint and the stock stereo really.

I was also looking at the TLX, great choice if you can do V6 and AWD for that $400 payment. It's a much more expensive car than the WRX though.

V6 mustang or focus st comes in at $400/mnth

Wrx for year round fun.

Mustang if you want 3 seasons fun. The v6s have a bad rep, but the newer ones would be plenty of power and fun. The ecoboost would be in the 400s I think if you wanted to spend a bit more.

I had a '12 V6, so same motor and it had lots of pickup at higher rpm, very vtec-ish... New ones have irs and 3.15 final gears and still come standard with an lsd... Rented a vert in Maui and it was great on the twisty roads... Even with the auto

That Caddy deal is nuts. How is that payment calculated? On the website shows $700+ :nut:
Super tempting :bigpimp:

I'm gonna counter the Mustang idea by suggesting the new 2016 Camaro. Looks like you can get yourself into at least a 1ss (455 hp) for well inside your budget, and keep in mind these things are mopping the race track with M3s.

$47K car, $14K off as down payment. Lease for 2 years, residual is 50%.

I think in the other thread, you can walk away with that ATS cheaper than a fully loaded 4 cyl Accord, cash.

As lease deal goes, I don't think anyone is gonna will beat that.

The funny thing is, Cadillac's residual is so low, I just don't think they can move them with normal lease without knocking 30% off MSRP like this ATS.

Shit for $299/mo maybe I should swap the Civic for an ATS  You'd have to deal with CUE but it's hard to beat the price.

What dealer is it? It's not obvious in the Kijiji ad. I might actually do this haha.

Yes payment is lower than my wife's 2013 Fit although ours is a 4 year lease. Hard to beat that price.

Wasn't working on mobile... But that's nuts, guess it makes sense if the ats is $300... $400/month lease (48month) gets you a $30k ford

I think you are looking at bi-weekly?

1ss came up as $626 monthly for 48month lease with 0 options selected for me.

Right now the deals are the ATS as everyone is mentioning.
2015 Q50 RWD (not sure what's left for stock) they have a $5000 lease incentive, but poor rate. If paying cash it can be had in the low $30,000 range :nut:

And there is always the GTI. With your Golf you may qualify for lease loyalty break?

Don't think the TLX even with the deals right now are close to $400/month, unless you get the base model. Tech/Elite models are probably over $500/month.

Any of these cars have the comfort mode access like on the BMW's

Basically you start your car, have it running and then leave it and lock it via fob. Locking it via key is okay too....lol just makes it handy for running errands i.e. deliveries

my sonota turbo has push to start, so do the elantra if you get a limited. but most cars wont let you lock by remote if you leave it running, most you will need to use the key to lock after the doors are all closed.

I dislike awd as it offers zero benefit to me, and am trying to find a newer 3 series that isn't a base model.... seems like everyone buys x-drive as the first option they check on these things...

Gonna get more details on the ATS and if it's available for 3 or 4 year lease.

What about this? Budget baller no charge maintenance? Lol

That was a large factor in me going with the ATS over BMW this time around. My first service they picked my car up from work left a CTS loaner then dropped off my car at work the next day.
I did a 4 year finance however not a lease as I got a ridiculous price on a 15.

Man these Cadillac deals are tempting me as well. Are they only on the 'regular' Cadillac's or on 'V' cars as well? Is there someone here that works for Cadillac? Wouldn't mind talking numbers to see what trading in the M3 for one of the V's gets me. Wouldn't like to get into a lease as for my needs it suits me better than financing. If someone here works there, please PM.

It's a Cadillac ATS Standard (base model), 2.0T AWD and the only real options are CUE and sunroof. They are demo cars, not brand new. Window sticker is ~$47K ($40K base + CUE, Sunroof, some trim pieces, Freight & PDI get you to $47K) and buyout is ~$28K so you will definitely want to be giving it back after 2 years based on what I see on Auto Trader right now. 15,000km/year max at that price. No similar lease deals on the coupes, V's, etc. The ATS-V in the show room is ~$90K  but they have huge cash incentives ($10-15K) on just about everything in there right now, so they must be having trouble selling them.

shakalaka
04-29-2016, 10:32 AM
Yea I did some research last night and discovered that. So the payments on the V's will not be anything special from the sound of it. And I don't think I am quite ready to switch my current car for an ATS, unless it's a V or something. lol.

Ah I knew I was forgetting something. So it's a used/demo car? What's the mileage? 3k? I guess it doesn't really matter since it's a lease and giving it back.

Normally I don't care what the gf thinks when it comes to my cars but I brought up the idea of me driving a Caddy and she vetoed it so hard it caught me off guard lol She said I should just get another Porsche i.e. Cayenne lol oh man she's so silly sometimes.

My 15 performance model was not a demo and was well under 40k. I too didn't think I would ever drive a caddy but after a test drive and a price that rivaled a civic it was a no brainer for my work car.

No no not bored of the 911. I'm keeping that thing forever. My 328 lease is ending this year so browsing for another daily driver to bomb around and have fun with.

Of course one can easily up the budget to $500 and have more vehicles to pick from but the research shows at $400 lol the ATS is the best deal so far and only 2 years too! Other vehicles to get the $400 payment are 4 year leases haha

This one's ~$35k out the door for a 2.0T awd luxury, I think. If you got a performance for around that, definitely interested in the details.

His sounds more like a one-off deal.

They did have a lease deal for about the same price out east last year though... I don't think there was anything like it here.
