More likely because 18/25 of the top threads have nothing to do with cars. And 4 of the ones about cars are buy/sell threads.

When I started, and I started on here much later than most, it was still mostly cars with the all the lulz bullshit on the side as filler.

More of a Calgary/AB forum with a side of car talk now.

For better or worse, the culture has changed and its not surprising that people lose interest based on the changing content on the forum. Also explains why some of the former members are still active elsewhere.

My desire to argue online has rapidly gone away as I get older, the more I realize that people have their opinions and that is that. No point in wasting the typed space. People want their thoughts/ideas to be reaffirmed, not challenged.

I also liken it similiar to video games; as a kid and while growing up, I loved video games but I was broke so it was great at taking up my time. Now I have a career, a startup company, and race all over so the other stuff doesn't interest me nearly as much. Only so much time in a day.

And I might not be "OG" as some, but I've been around since 2005 and consistently posting. Never cared to hang out with the ricers on the board, at least most of you have grown up into more respectable vehicles :rofl:

10 years ago, I was pulling the turbo out of my STI or swapping JDM STI Pink springs.

Today, the biggest mod I do is wheels and tires. I don't even pay people to lower my cars anymore.

I've been on beyond since 2009/2010 ish. I agree that it's shifted more to a general Calgary type forum from an enthusiasts forum. People start making more money and drift towards the more expensive, luxury cars. It's a given. With that comes less interest in modifying. I take a break from time to time now, but still enjoy it.

I think its less about people shifting away from modifying and more having a ton of members who couldn't give 2 shits about cars or talking about them period. Not everyone who is interested in cars could give 2 shits about mods and that's not necessarily a young-old poor-rich thing.

Considering this is a "car forum" I bet a shocking percentage of beyonders these days would say poll that "cars are a waste of money" or something similar.

but I do have to agree actual car talk on here, besides the "what to buy" thread, are almost non existent now. Mostly due to the 16 year old beyond member and his lowered civic, has now turned into a "which Mercedes should I buy" kind of member lol.
