Does anyone here have a comprehensive insurance policy on their RHD / JDM import?

I'm just finishing the process of building my HDJ81, which will be over $30k with the RTT and other accessories, and I'm not really interested in driving it without full insurance.

Please specify:

1. Who you are insured with?
2. Coverage? PLPD, Comprehensive, Collision
3. Deductible
4. Premium
5. Recent policy or grand-fathered
6. Make and Model of vehicle?

1. Meloche monnex
2. Full coverage
3. Embarrassed to say I don't recall
4. Cheap like 35.00 a month
5. Grandfathered
6. Should add vehicle to this. 1991 Honda beat

I think you can get full coverage as long as you get it appraised before hand. Then they insure the appraised value not the shit bagged jdm value.

Also glad someone made this thread as I'm importing a new work rig/project right now and doubt meloche will give me collision on it.

Last time I was able to get anything more than PLPD on RHD was in 2012 with co-operators.

Although I noticed with Meloche, if the rep isn't familiar, sometimes they will accidently offer you more coverage not knowing your car is RHD. I had to chime up and correct them a few times.

I don't think Intact even offers anything more than PLPD nowadays.

Co-operators is still your best bet though, it will depend on the broker, so you will need to call around. Deductible and premium will be high, from what I hear.
