Long story short, I have a panoramic roof on my car that cracked and I had a replacement made in lightweight thermoformed Polycarbonate.

The consensus online is that you cannot use regular automotive tint to darken the poly because it off-gasses when it heats up and this causes tons of bubbles in the tint that will ruin the poly if you remove the tint.

One solution I was thinking of is using Xpel or other PPF that sell a smoked film that is made for headlights. Since most headlights are plastic this seems like a product that would work perfectly.

Does anyone suggest another route? Any obvious problems with this?

I'm trying to contact some local poly suppliers to find out if they can point me to somewhere that sells a tint film that is specially made to apply to poly where if has the ability to breathe and avoid any bubbling in the heat.
