All season mushroom in crossfield gives away free compost (they've used it for growing shrumes already).

It's self load all you can take for free, or in Tuesdays they'll load all you want for $35.

Anyone used this stuff for gardening?

I've read it's pretty rich and needs to be mixed with mineral soil.

Interested to know if anyone has info?

I've been thinking of picking up some. My neighbour has used it in the past. Is there a website or... How did you find out about Tuesdays? My neighbour though it was friday.

i picked some up in the past when i built my garden area. the stuff isn't fully composted yet, so it's not the best idea to just throw it in the garden right away.. probably need to let it fully compost for one more season to be safe

it's great stuff though, but it's pretty alkaline. got a few mushrooms growing in mine one time too as a bonus

What's the compost made of?

Is it aged cow poop?

It's probably coco coir and other nutrient rich stuff. And cow poop. Possible vermiculite

Yep probably something along the lines of coco coir, vermiculite, coffee grounds, and gypsum.

I think my dad went recently to the same place? He's been raving about it for weeks. He says it's horse shit?

they have been giving away spent mushroom mix for years every year for Customer Appreciation Week used to be Gardeners Appreciation week. You can just call All Season Mushroom farm and ask, you can buy it for a buck a garbage bag for for a $1.00 anytime. They will front end load a trailer for a fee after appreciation week is over. But just give them a shout. We used it for a long time, but we have worms and do the vermicomposting now.

Here is a blurb of info as to what's in the spent compost.

Price: Free if you load your own trucks. Quantity: 75,000 yards
Spent mushroom compost is what is left over after we have produced the mushroom crops. The compost is a broken down straw and chicken manure mixture with about 2% peat moss mixed in. It is great for hard packed soils as the straw substrate will help to keep the soil structure open as well as having a good water holding capacity. The straw mixture is well broken down and has no lumps so it will spread evenly. There is a charge if we have to load it. Take it all if you have your own equipme
Nutrient Analysis: Yes
Other Details: Product still retains about 1% Nitrogen. Good for soil structure. Material has good water holding capacity.
Type: Other
