Traffic going north on Deerfoot this morning was remarkably light, lots of people using Stoney and cutting back to Barlow is where congestion was worse than usual but probably about normal in total commute time.

I thought it would be quiet heading south on Saturday night at midnight.. boy was I wrong. Felt like 8am monday rush hour. Bumper to bumper all the way back to deerfoot meadows. Nightmare for sure .

I've said it many times before. I'm so happy I don't live down there. Normal traffic going to and from the South end of the city is bad enough, this must be awful

I left my place at 7:15 and traffic on Deerfoot was significantly less than a normal weekday. Usually traffic will be backed up to between Barlow and 130th, today the backup started about halfway between Douglasdale and Barlow. Everyone seems to be taking other routes, 18th street had way more traffic on it than normal.

Stoney had noticeably more traffic today. So in other words one massive line up of cars in the left lane :banghead:

Thank fuck it's happening during summer and I can ride. The only spot I couldn't pass was the 2-lane stretch near 16th Ave.

Barlow was a disaster as well.

They need to instead of repairing make that a 3 lane bridge that doesn't get merging traffic on and off right before and during. Make the Anderson turn off a separate lane

That's all fine and dandy and a great idea too but for now it is just not happening. Maybe in the future and I believe there have been studies done and plans made but who knows when that will happen.

So for now, it's just maintenance, which has to be done, and several months of traffic headaches for the people who use this bit of Deerfoot and now other affected roadways.

I thought I would come up Macleod instead, the overpass construction there made it a clown show this morning to.. Way to synchronize projects ..:nut:

Cross this bridge everyday going to and from work. Shit.

Barlow NB was a shitshow, same with Glenmore WB this morning. I assume it's a lot of people trying to avoid Deerfoot. Took probably 20-30 minutes to get from 52st to Ogden Rd on WB Glenmore this morning. Going home I took Deerfoot NB from Barlow as I usually do, traffic was worse than usual but only by 10~ mins.

On my way home I noticed that Anderson EB towards Deerfoot/Deerfoot South turn off was pretty much a parking lot. Backed up past Bonaventure.

Barlow to Glenmore instead? Nope, all the overpass work on Glenmore.

Maybe Macleod? Nope, overpass on 162nd.

No problem with the work, these are all things that should have been a while ago and I'm thrilled they're happening now. But come on, give people a detour at least

And where would you propose the CoC put detours - for Ivor Strong or the 162nd project?

I believe e is suggesting not to do every project at once so if someone wants to take another route it's not a construction zone as well.

I haven't decided if the decoration cast into the panels of the 162 ave interchange, is supposed to be mountains or a historical graph of Alberta's economy.

Everyone must have been taken macleod for the commute home yesterday...bumper to bumper from 39th ave all the way south. Added 30 mins to my commute easily. (Eau Claire to Evergreen).

Even noticed more volume this morning on NB macleod.
Oh well...it still won't force me to take transit :D

This morning it wasn't bad at 5.45 heading north, but I didn't expect it to be - it was starting to build slightly, so i'd imagine it just gets worse.

left work and hit Glenmore EB from Blackfoot yesterday around 4.15, thinking i'd head on to Barlow, but the queue was building solid easbound as I passed under DF and I bailed at 18th St.. which was wasn't that bad.. still took longer though.

Yesterday AM heading north wasn't bad (less traffic then normal) as I assume lots of people took other routes.... well today sucked ass. Everyone jumped back to Deerfoot this morning :banghead:

I just use Deerfoot south to get to Anderson, usually backed up until the train bridge near the Infiniti dealership, but it was already messed up at 4:15pmish yesterday.

Scoot over to the deerfoot meadows/Southland turn off, up the offramp and back onto deerfoot south :D

Absolute shit show though, thankfully I don't live in Mckenzie anymore, godspeed you South South Easterners.
