Anyone have any good/bad experiences with shipping stuff from the US through USPS? I'm waiting for some parts to arrive from the east coast (NYC) and it's taking forever. Roughly how long can one expect to wait? 10 days, 2 weeks???

did you get a tracking number?

USPS usually takes a while longer than FedEx and UPS. But yeah, did you get a tracking #? Was this a private sale, or you buying from a shop over there?

I've never had any problems with USPS!

Depends on which method they used to ship...

If you shipped it express post, it should come via Purolator. 10 days max (my experience).

If not, it could be up to a month depending on how big the package is.

I use USPS from the states all the time. Great because you don't pay brokerage, the catch is they don't get priority treatment at customs. Expect everything from the U.S. to sit there for a few days.
My '5' day shipment took 9 business days, 4 of them at customs.

i have had some items shipped thru USPS when shopping on ebay... oh my goodness it's ridiculously slow on some items!

however... my camera batteries came pretty fast.. depends i guess - the batteries were pretty light.

Just got a video shipped via usps, air mail which usually takes 14 days only took 8days...its sorta hit or miss, it can either be really fast or really really slow

brokerage fees arnt near as bad as usps if you get any at all

USPS is great. You can't complain about it all given the alternatives!

I ordered some parts from a Toyota dealer down there. I just told them to ship using the cheapest method, so it's probably standard delivery. I didn't know USPS used tracking numbers like UPS or Fedex and they didn't give me a number either. :dunno: If it doesn't cost way more, I'll have to look into that option next time. I'm rather new to this cross border shopping experience... its been approx 8 days wait so far.

Depending on what it is, it will either clear customs fast, or get checked a ton of times and wait forever.
On my latest shipment, a bunch of car parts, it sat in customs for 5 days, and according to the tracking on the USPS/Purolator web site, it cleared customs 7 times in those 5 days, and got 'held in customs' 6 times. Strange?

The box arrived un-opened, but the little plastic thing for the invoice was torn to shreds, and there was ketchup on the invoice...

I guess if they decide to really examine your package it will take forever, but if it's small, and has a low declared value, it will probably just go through.
