Hi All,

More new build questions for beyond.

Has anyone dealt with "wood" siding for residential construction? I'm specifically looking at two products:

Sagiper siding
http://sagipernorthamerica.com/product/sagiwall/

LUX siding
http://www.waynebuildingproducts.com/?page_id=1755
Not sure if this link is for the actual product, but builder showed me something similar

So far i'm leaning towards the sagiper product as there is more info available and seems like a larger installed product base. The sagiper has internal "boxed" construction to provide front to back stiffness. The Lux siding looks like stamped aluminum and i'm wondering if there is possible warping or bend damage.

Please let me know your thoughts!!!

I have this product on my house

http://longboardcladding.com/installation/#

Its truly maintenance free since its aluminum so it won't fade or warp from the sun.

Longboard is the wicked product, I just used the Sagiper product on a project at home and it's very good also. That Lux stuff is super basic, not even on the same planet as Sagiper

Sagiper is about $10 a square and longboard is quite a bit more than that. The substrate won't ever degrade, I'd be curious about the wood grain decal that's on it though since that's what gets beat on by the sun every day.

Hi,
Just a FYI the Longboard wood grain finishes have a 15 year warranty and are formulated to stand up to UV exposure.

We typically measure durability based on the performance of the powder coat wood grain finish in the South Florida tests. These natural exposure tests put the samples through southern Florida’s humid, hot climate and high UV radiation. Longboard is considered a AAMA 2604 High Performance Coating. In summary, we offer a 15 year warranty on our finishes due to the testing results of AAMA 2604.

How does it stand up to golf ball or larger sized hail?

This is ultimately the most important question when buying siding in Alberta.

Looks like a decent calgary hail storm would dent the shit out of it to be honest.

The long board on my house is installed on vertical walls, unless there are Gale force winds that drive the hail horizontally into the side of my house, I don't think it would dent it. Part of my roof is galvanized steel that is suppose to with stand a golf ball going at 50 mph before it will see any dents.

The stuff is on a few buildings near me, it's held up very well. Also the colours haven't faded one bit.

Anyone have experience with Lux Panel? Difference from Lux siding.

http://luxpanel.ca/

Looks very similar to longboard but steel.

Not much info on website, I have contacted manufacture. Made in Edmonton.
