Interesting vid. I wonder how long a small engine wound that tight will last on the street?

I am no stranger to 600+ hp engines, but I am from a different era. I had a 67' 426 Hemi that was built by "The Mad Trapper", an engine shop of some repute in Edmonton, back in the 70's. It was dyno's at Western Machine in Winnipeg at 630 hp. ( I have long forgotten the peak rpm and the graph details) It was reliable as long as the valves were kept properly adjusted, and the 2 carter 4 bbl carbs were adjusted. the engine gave me four seasons of great enjoyment, terror, and legal troubles before I sold it, in a fit of disgust at being unable to drive it on commercially available pump gas/104+ octane booster anymore. Those times felt like the last days of Pompeii.
I wonder how long the 600 hp Mitzi will last?

The Eclipse is the new breed of car. It has suspension and brakes that eclipse (Ha!) the old mopar's Buckboard chassis and Fred Flintstone brakes, but my gawd - 600 hp out of a Mitsubishi Eclipse? How is it done? I am so far back in the cretacious era.

The old Hemi was an incredible car that, in a straight line, would generate G-forces powerful enough to compress the occular fluid in your eyeballs. I cannot even imagine what 600 hp in a car the size of an Eclipse would be like.

1G & 2G Eclipses came in three flavours; GS (non-turbo, fwd), GST (turbo, fwd), & GSX (turbo, awd). The Eagle Talon was much the same; Esi, Tsi, Tsi AWD.

Heavy D is right. The Mitzi is available as both a fwd and awd. I would give my left nut for an awd Eclipse, Talon, 3000GT or Stealth with a turbo (Dual turbo) & 6 speed.

They did have a 6 speed, didn't they? I have never seen one.

I really don't like fwd, personally.

2nd gen stealths/3000gt (1994 + ) were 6 speed.

You are only ballparking the HP when you do the front wheels on an awd vehicle as driveline losses aren't taken into account. I believe there is a calculation you can use.
