You dont know what trolling is.

Had I said "thats what you get for leaving keys in the car" ... that would have been trolling.

I don't know all vehicles but apparently some CAN be still stolen without keys these days. Was wondering if this vehicle was one of them.

Either way, ill keep an eye out today. :dunno:

I have searched all over the city parking lot, strip malls, malls, hoping to happen to find the car abandoned.. Nothing...:(

Why can't the police use the traffic cams on each traffic light to track where it went.

There are located the way to get out of my area, both directions

With the amount of auto theft going on, it would be a huge strain on resources to treat each one like they would an assault or murder.

It's an insured, material good, easily replaceable with negligible impact to the victim.

:banghead: really?

You want the cops to check the "traffic cams" that are on "each intersection" to find out where your POS accord went? Are you fucking serious?

ok, 1, your POS car is hardly a radar blip to the cops. They are going to come take a statement, and do a cursory examination of the location where the vehicle was. They will flag the plate is the system, and over the next week will watch for it if they remember to. It will eventually turn up somewhere when someone calls it in.

2, the "Traffic cams on every intersection" you refer to. Those don't record. They take still shots and compare them to an empty intersection every few seconds to detect traffic waiting at the intersection to switch up the lights. Even if they did record all the footage, expecting the police to tie up resources and go through hundreds of hours of footage to find your POS car is rediculars. This isn't a murder investigation.

3, insurance will payout and you can just go get another boring non descript POS car.

4, how the fuck do you steal this car without the key?

Maybe OP lost a key somewhere, maybe someone stole one of his keys, maybe a previous owner held a key back. We'll never know unfortunately.

OP, stop wasting your time driving around the city looking for your vehicle, for all you know, it may be parked in a garage being taken apart at this very moment. Tons of different scenarios, if its still in the city, CPS will come across it eventually and get it back to you.

So, did you leave the extra key in the glove box or centre console? How do you steal these cars without one?

Actually there's some awesomeness to car hacking now...

Fob based cars - they use a massive amp/repeater - your car thinks the key is inside... even though your keys in the house 250' away... you get 1 start, it'll run until you shut it off...

There's some video floating around of guys wearing backpacks managing to open doors on locked vehicles at seeming will. Seems like there's some actual hack going on to accomplish it.

There's a fair bit out there on hacking vehicles, keys and controls going rf - has opened up a huge new opportunity for breaching doors...

Amps and repeaters are 2010. The current ones work off data networks, and can emulate a smart key by relaying the communications from around the world to unlock and start the car.

How is this car a POS? It's a 2012 HFP. :dunno:

Anyways, good luck finding your car OP.

Yes, old school now, but it's one that they know has been used in Calgary...I'm sure it's only a matter of time, it's fairly easy to spoof a cell tower in this day and age...

WTF man?!?!? You calling op's car a POS repeatedly is rediculars:thumbsdow

I'm glad others have chimed in to state the obvious but even if it were a POS, are you that much of a child that you feel the need to say it over and over? Yeah he got carried away with the traffic cams but it's clear his car meant a lot to him.

The OP's car is not a POS. I'd take the Honda over that F150 any day of the week.

Anyone could have their car stolen. I found a keyring on the sidewalk in the front of my house with fifty keys and two of those were for a Honda and a Mazda. Went around a four block radius to see if I could find the vehicle and owner by association. Fail. One key was very specialised, high security, only one seller of the key in Calgary so I dropped the ring off at the shop and asked them to contact their client

My wife has lost her car keys in the neighbourhood in the winter. Never found them, placed on Kijiji and put up a few posters.

Break in, they steal the keys from the key bowl most of us have.

In each of these scenarios, it would be a slam-dunk to steal the cars.

You'll not find the car on your own, leave it to the police and plan on collecting insurance. Best of luck in any case. Lebowski has taught us this:

Who cares what kind of car it is. What's with the vain pissing match here? It could be a '99 Cavalier for what difference it makes; it's his property, and clearly there was time taken to customize it which makes a theft even more difficult to take.

Come on Chris. The last thing the OP needs is to compound his loss with people needlessly putting down his personal preferences.

07-11-2016, 03:36 PM
Its not so much what kind of car it is, even though it is just an Accord, what is getting to me is the total and unrealistic measures he is expecting the police to take in the efforts to recover it.

Good on him to go looking for it, but were I in his shoes, I would be pushing for a payout before the cops find it. I don't want my car back that has been abused in who knows what ways, and to have that on the car proof report when it comes time to sell it.

were I in his shoes, I would be hoping they don't find it, and get myself a newer vehicle with the payout.

I do agree with this post and it sounds like he's just young and naive or not fully insured  No way in hell i would want my car back either. Not sure how a recovered stolen car works at the registries but if i ran a carproof and seen a theft on there i'd have to pass.

From the desperation on locating it, refusing to answer if there is proper coverage and firing back on "trolls", I got the same feeling too. That's a $20K car if kept well and low mileage.

Good luck OP. This city has gone to shit on crime since the downturn.
